this was wonderful. for whatever reason, I enjoy reading the realistic perspectives of Leia after being tortured so many times and having all of her loved ones ripped away. you do a fantastic job of writing such topics and including both intense love and loss between the two of them. thank you!

I really love your stories. I always get so excited when I see that you've posted. This one was wonderful. I'm a sucker for Leia-trying-to-accept-she's-actually-a-human stories. Her moments of vulnerability are so rare that fics addressing them are fascinating to read. The only thing that I wish this story had had was Luke! I know he couldn't be there because of his own medical situation, but I kept wanting to see his reaction to his sister's situation. I've always had in my head that Luke is very protective of his sister ("If you won't turn to the dark side, perhaps she will." "NOOOO!"). Anyway, you're a wonderful Star Wars writer. Looking forward to more of your works! :)

I loved this. Carlist and Leia are so sweet here. Leia sacrifices far too much of herself. Love that Carlist reminds her she has the right to be human. Sometimes we all need that reminder.

Rieekan is a HanLeia shipper, make sense LOL. i always think he was like a father to Leia after she lost Bail (and he respect Han in ESB).

In no particular order: I'm not a fan of the new canon. There are a few things I like, but most of it I can leave, so I've got not problem with you ignoring Moving Target.

Go, Carlist. Han really owes the man a bottle of good whiskey, not just for being on his side but also for being there for Leia when Han couldn't and Chewie was too distraught to be. Also, I don't think it's unreasonable for Leia to finally give in to tears after Han is gone. After Alderaan, Leia was probably in shock, and by the time she sort of came back to herself to deal with everything, she had Han, Luke, and even Chewie in her life. Luke especially, even if she didn't know why, would have been a comfort. At the end of ESB, Leia has lost everything. Han is gone. Chewie will be leaving soon to rescue Han or go back home. Luke is distraught and probably pulling back from Leia and everyone else after Vader's revelation. Leia must feel more alone than ever before. She's reached her breaking point.

Also, I love how this works with Identity, but it can also be a stand-alone story. You've had some great side stories with Identity—Han and Luke, Han and Leia, Leia and Carlist. I would love to see a Leia and Luke side story. Given how good this and your other stories are, I imagine it would be awesome.

I love your Carlist. It was subtle in Moving Target, but Mon Mothma did show support in that way.

Excellent capture of both characters. Rieekan is my favorite general, and the conflict with Leia is wonderfully captured. I love the self-doubt that contrasts with her love and her responsibility to duty!
