That flinch and Carlisle's reaction stabbed me in the heart too
rebecca-in-blue chapter 1 . 7/27/2017
I think this story does a good job at fleshing out Esme's past trauma and how it's still effecting her. The use of a movie about a woman in the same situation is a nice way to get those memories churning, although I think her flashback would be stronger if it were written with a more period feel to it. As is, there aren't really any details to place that it happened almost 100 years ago, and it could easily be taking place in modern day. I love the way her family rallies around her - Rosalie holding her hand, Carlisle coming home from work, and I would prefer it if you spent a little more time there. This story could use a little sweetness to balance out all the angst. I don't think the song lyrics really offer anything to readers who don't already know the song, but I've always felt that way about lyrics in fanfic.

P.S. I'm here reviewing you for the review-a-thon at the Caesar's Palace forum! Come drop by sometime, all fandoms welcome :)
MsEdelweiss chapter 1 . 7/19/2016
This is really nicely written. I've always thought Esme's past would have at least some impact on her and it would still be traumatic for her, even when she was happily married to Carlisle, as it would also be for Rosalie and Emmett. You portrayed this really well, I love the way you wrote the characters!

Both heart breaking and sweet. A nice little read.
RadioactiveMonsters98 chapter 1 . 7/4/2016
Amazing history.
Poor Esme but she finally had a great happy ending and I can forget about that past torture. I quite liked the performance, I always imagined that Esme had those lapses that reminds you of her past and the beam used to perfection.
Greetings, go ahead x]
