Reviews for The Cave
Rosie Harrison chapter 3 . 4/1
Oh Man. I wish it was you writing the final season.
I am sitting here in our new normal of "quarantine" and it's cold and windy out. I've got Christmas lights on, a scent burning in the house and an old cat on my lap, and I'm so happy to have found another of your stories. Your catalog has been my relief and escape while we've been stuck home avoiding the coronavirus.
I've recently branched out and read some of your "not Supernatural" stories, (Witness Marks was the latest) and one of the things that strikes me about all of your work is that it sticks with me. I find myself thinking about the story and the characters and the things they said and did for days after. In this chapter, I definitely remembered the basketball story from "Ramble On." This story, "The Cave" has been such an interesting perspective and exploration of who Dean would be if his identity suddenly wasn't tied up in Sam. I had to post my comment on this chapter because I just needed to put this quote here. I read it and had to stop a minute to take it in and imagine this playing out on screen during this emotional final season of Supernatural:
And you found a way to bring me back. Or keep me from the edge. No matter what, you kept me alive, even if it meant…," Sam shook his head, a muscle jumping along his jawline. "It's like we started out this ginormous piece of granite…but our life just keeps chipping away at it, turning us into a shape we never thought we'd be, never saw comin'. And we get smaller with each hit…but," he shrugged, looking at Dean with his cat-like eyes, "we're still granite."

"And this is the life you want to go back to," Dean asked, picking up a packet of beef jerky from their bag and taking several strips out before handing the packet to Sam. "This is the life you want me to remember. Where every good thing we do for the world takes away a piece of us."
Thank you.

Still one of my all all all time favourites. I just LOVE the way you just know the brothers, you know them so well. Thanks
Shazza19 chapter 5 . 4/28/2019
I really enjoyed re reading this story I really wished that you did not give up on the boys. Probably will not write anymore stories for them
Jester's Tear82 chapter 5 . 11/10/2018
I know this story was written over 2 years ago, & I'm way way late in reviewing it, but I just reread it and realized I never did leave a comment and that is not acceptable! because this is such a good story, without a doubt one of my favorites (of yours & in general).

The whole thing is perfect, from the original monster (totally creeped me out) to the h/c, the ass kicking, the rare yet wonderful moments of comedy in the midst of crisis, & of course the feels & brotherly moments.. I mean it just sucks you in and doesn't let go and stays with you way after the reading's done.

Absolutely loved how you took us down memory lane - 10 seasons back. I've enjoyed reliving these times with Sam & Dean, went through their pain and their "good" that's worth it all. I appreciate you providing us both of the brothers perspective, alternating between them each chapter. It was fascinating to go from 2 strangers cuffed together, to one brother remembering for both when the other's lost, to Dean finally remembering "Sammy" and realizing why and how he's fighting the monsters and the darkness, they each choosing each other and the light.

I have at least 10 quotes I want to put here, but I'll choose this one because it kinda sums it all for me: "All I'm saying is... our life, man. US. Being your brother. Growing up with you and fighting with you and for you and because of you. That's the good stuff".
Also, adored the ending with Cas to the rescue :) Understanding they're still sane and THEM and hugging it out.. getting back out there, stronger and united. Just sweet.

Now we're in season 14 (!) & I know you're rarely writing for SPN anymore, but should you get inspired again, I'll be happy to read your tales. Sending lots of hugs & love to you, my friend 3

I loved that. Perfectly in character, excellent pacing, and a fascinating look into the characters' cores, at what parts of them exist outside of their experiences and memories. Thanks so much for sharing, I got to read that all in one sitting this morning and it was delightful :)

I’ve been quite ill for the last couple months and bedridden. I’ve been going through your storiesagain. What a talent you have. Your story telling is so above and beyond it’s crazy. Thank you for sharing your talent. Though I still wish for another Supernatural storyHELLO! Dean said, “Yes,” to MichaelI find myself liking your story telling so much I’m reading some of your other works. Some of which I’ve never even seen the shows. So thank you again for gifting us with your talent. Can’t wait for you next posting. ️

I love all of your fics. thank you for sharing. Are you not writing Supernatural fics anymore?
I just found your live journal and all of your streams of consciousness reviews of the episodes. There are a lot and I have not read them all - yet, but I do intend to do that, as I am doing a rewatch. I just started S1 and have just recently watched Faith.
I have spent a good couple or 3 hours reading your reviews. Just like your fics, they are so thoughtful and well written. And we agree on a lot of points.
But I see that you have not posted any reviews on live journal for S12 or S13? Have you stopped? Or are they posted somewhere else?
if so, no worries. I know that rl gets in the way sometimes.
S13 was a bit rocky, but I am enjoying it and can't wait for the season finale this week. I am a die-hard fan since almost day 1.
well, thnks for sharing and I hope, if you have time, you can reply to let me know. take care.

This was a great reminder of who they are and what they've done. Thank you.
redvanessa chapter 5 . 1/9/2018
What a fantastic, amazing, wonderful story! I enjoyed reading this so much, I could hardly put it down until it was finished. The h/c was beautifully done, the flashbacks and feels were heart-wrenching, the plot line was intriguing, and to top it off, we got to see that Cas committed grand theft auto and impersonated medical personnel. Really, what more could we ask for? Thanks for sharing a great story.
Deans Arie chapter 5 . 1/1/2018
