I love the way this is written! The structure, specifically. Like, personally, I'm absolutely terrible at paying attention and skim subconsciously, so during the scene where they talk about Steel Samurai I was super confused for about five minutes, but when the parallel sunk I was so impressed I gasped out loud.

It's fantastic how subtle it is, the way you wrote that in. I was expecting cute banter about Steel Samurai but it went a little deeper than I expected. But it's not even just the subtlety I love, though; it's so sweet how it's Phoenix who worries about the immediate future that the female main character threw away, and Maya is just swept up in how /cool/ it must've been for her. Just... Phoenix worrying about the effect he had on the life Maya envisioned before and the idea of having Phoenix in her life being anything other than one of the best things that ever happened to her not even crossing Maya's mind... That's one of the cutest things in the world? Thank you so much for writing this.
