Wish the story was longer with a bit more angst at the end, not just drink and wow he's cured

Oh yes! That's the stuff.

Put simply, I adore this story. It is classic Twelve-Clara; the banter is perfect as is Clara's thoughts about the Doctor and how he reacts to her. On an adventure, he is fine but 'stuck in a room', he stammers, shuffles his feet and knows not what to do with his hands. Words of endearment - forget it. But his actions always betray how much he cares about her. I absolutely loved the dialogue here between them; I could hear Capaldi and Coleman's voices saying the lines. You've also kept that certain amount of elusiveness that Twelve has, something that is difficult to write. I've always kind of enjoyed the stories where we and/or Clara really don't know what he is thinking or feeling. Until the proper time of course.

Clara is wonderful here as well. Her annoyance at the Tardis taking off, at the Doctor's forgetting her birthday (again), exasperation and then changing to rising worry over his condition. I've always admired Clara's spunk; it isn't unrealistic but it is leavened with intelligence and courage. Only Clara could be stranded on a planet full of poisonous cactii, repulsive fly things, an ill Doctor and still not lose her head. Clara's list of the things she is in their relationship; common sense, pretty one, tact, good cop, etc, is humorous but so true. Plus, I think her birthday present will be well worth waiting for.

These two are simply wonderful together and your story does them proud. I am so very pleased you took my prompt. Thank you. This story has made my day.
