I loved this story the first time I read it. I was going to read it tonight for fun. I understand why you had to take it down. I sincerely hope you can rework it. Without knowing the other story, I can't offer suggestions. I wish I could. You're an amazing writer and I'm a bit envious because I can't write. The muse is there but my mind can't form the words. So I love reading your work because it is what I wish I could write. And oh, don't let these people rent space in your head for free, so to speak cuz you know that your work was legit. And anyone who accuses you can shove it cuz they're not you so how'd do they know the time and effort it took for you to create these stories and you'll probably never meet them in real life, so who cares about them? my creative writing teacher always told us "good writers come up with their own stories, but great ones steal and rework others." it takes a lot of creativity to take an idea someone had and go in a different direction. the readers are not always right. you should write for yourself and those that love your writing and not for those few that heckle and scorn. so what, they had the same idea, but you had no idea it existed. publish it, and let your fans choose if they want to read it. find the author of the previous story to see if they even care. coming up with an original idea is fictitious now days as so many people have the same one. prompts work that way. one idea, but so many directions to go. keep writing and screw the rest.
