You know, sometimes, when I start a fresh run on the trilogy, I tell myself I'm not going to romance anyone because, Jesus Christ, how selfish? I know how the story ends, I know all the stops in between. I know how much pain Shepard would be causing the person she romances through it all. How selfish? But then, I see Garrus and/Thane and I just ... damn. With Thane, at least, he never has to watch her die. Garrus has to twice (and no, I don't believe Shep lives very long after that breath in the Destroy ending, she dies alone and gasping for air surrounded by the dead on the Citadel).
