Stewbacca94 chapter 1 . 6/28/2018
This is definitely my favourite one-shot on FFN, and I really loved how Yang and Blake didn't go down the romance road either, which is unusual for a work like this.

And lately, I've gotten inspired by this and have been working on a White Rose piece called "The Singer and the Photographer" set in the same AU - but without Yang or Blake making an appearance.

I have no idea how I could've missed this amazing gem of a story. I've been reading your stuff for years and this is among your best, which is to say all of them. It's very well paced and the interaction between Blake and Yang was so believable I almost thought it was based off a true event. I love your work and I look forward to what your brilliant mind will bring. Keep going.

I have no words for this except for the fact that it was simply beautiful. It had a nice message and the writing was fantabulous. Let me say it one more time, It was beautiful.

A refreshing change of pace, really enjoyed this story that focused on friendship rather than romance :)
Adeline Wrights Fanfiction chapter 1 . 12/26/2016
Charming and delightful. It was very refreshing to read a piece of fanfiction where a mutual love between two characters didn't necessitate a romance. I have friends whom I love dearly, but I also have a wife whom I love in a very different way.

Your neighborhood sounds charming and magical. My mind doesn't always piece together spaces correctly, so that hill by the lake and the little bridge melded together in a way that defies the laws of space and physics. If only I were more talented with a brush, I would try to paint the image myself.

I loved the mystery of the painter and the girls' mutual fascination with each other. Some relationships blossom like that—two people take notice of each other and can't help wanting to learn more. If only it could play out like that more often in real life. As often as such a development occurs, more often it's a one-sided fascination and there's too much room for creeping and discomfort.

Or at least for me, I frequently find myself fascinated with people but don't know how to approach them.

Your work always finds some way to resonate with me, Miss Hana. With Yang being the most openly passionate and emotional of the main cast, it makes perfect sense to me that she would be an artist working in visual media. Her unusual use of color fits with what I mentioned earlier in how I see the world in strange ways. Fain would I cast the world in watercolor and let it all seep together.

But enough of me. One thing I always look for when I'm reading a story is, "Where is the conflict?" I do not believe there is such a thing as a compelling story without a conflict. Life is full of conflict, of struggle and strife, and thus life is compelling.

In this story, the early conflict was the mystery of the girl on the hill. After Blake's and Yang's first meeting, there is Blake's' anxiousness as she tried to kill time until her next meeting with Yang and her struggle against the heat. After that… I'm not sure where the conflict lies. Maybe that was enough. It was nice, after all the buildup and anticipation, to watch as the girls' friendship grew and they became partners in their creative works.

Also, it seems like every cat owner has a love/hate relationsip with their animal? Cats' paws can be dreadfully painful, even when all they are seeking is love.

I wish I could offer more feedback rather than just talk about how the story relates to me, but then again I internalize everything so I guess that's just how I give feedback. I'm not one to read with an overly critical eye, so this is the best I can do.

Thank you for the lovely story, Miss Hana. I hope I will make time to read more of your work soon.

Cheers,
