Reviews for Older Brother
Rebatrek chapter 6 . 7/2
Nice twist to the BWL genre. Thank you for sharing.
Kai chapter 3 . 6/14
Are there stories out there where Hagrid gets what he deserves?

He was twice in Azkaban for things he was innocent of in canon. But he was never appropriately punished for the shit he DID.

Thousands of acromantula, a dragon, illegal cross-breeding, with a manticore to boot. That's THREE different Class XXXXX monsters. A full giant, brother or not. His classes were shit, but if incompetent teachers were kicked out only a handful would've been allowed to stay. But his part in Harry's kidnapping out of the hand of his rightful guardian? Or Harry's treatment while ferrying him to Surrey? Injured, without medical help, without drink, without food, with a nappy full of shit, in a thin blanket flown over England in November for about THIRTY hours in a coat pocket on a motorcycle. Attacking a muggle child without provocation (at least no provocation from that child) with magic he isn't allowed to cast anyway. Several violations of the Statute of Secrecy. Illegal trespass with kicking in the door, demanding being served alcohol, and taking the "bed" of a family member for himself to stay until morning uninvited.

I like almost no one from the Harry Potter story. There are a lot of people further up on my shit list. But Hagrid deserves his place on that list. As a character in a children's story he is allowed a bit leeway. However, the third book at the latest isn't a children's book anymore.

Yeah, Rowling doesn't say, but some things can be inferred from canon.

Not only are floo fireplaces able to handle a lot of people in a short time, as seen at the ministry every morning, when all those seat warmers try to get to their offices as close to opening time as possible. In fact, it's the ONLY magical transport that can be used to access the platform.

The safety interval of portkey arrival, as seen at the quidditch world championship in the fourth book, is much too long for more than a handful families to arrive reasonably close to departure time.

And apparition can't be aimed. Like Charlie apparated onto an old woman, and Ronald and Kingsley apparated into a group of snatchers each. I doubt that those three incidents were intended. The platform at twenty minutes to departure is PACKED. Apparating in GUARANTEES an accident. Even a dedicated arrival point can't be cleared fast enough to prevent accidents. I mean, let's say half the students are apparated in and everyone has one family member with them. That's, when Hogwarts is used to capacity, 500 students and 500 others. Within, say, twenty minutes from 10.35 h till 10.55 h. Not so early that they have to wait half an eternity nor so late that they miss the train. That's six people within five seconds. There's no way that that can happen without injuries.

Flying is out, other portals than that from the non-magical side at King's Cross are never mentioned at all in the books, AFAIR, er, that's it I think. So it MUST be floo.

That's a fat point against the Weasels by the way. For canon!Harry's first day and for hiring three taxis for a drive of several hours from Devon to London, costing over a hundred pounds that they can't spare. How expensive can floo powder be?
Tenjo chapter 2 . 5/10
Dumbledore is a retard. If I were Voldemort and I returned, the ‘spy’ who refused to actually act like the faction he was spying on and who was given leeway to do just that, would never have my trust. Since it either means he’s a shit spy or he’s working for the enemy and they were stupid enough to think such behaviour would ingratiate him. Subtly helping reduce the number of aurors and healers would make sense, and he’s doing that anyway. But actively and openly allowing students to espouse pure-blood bigotry? If not only makes him stand out, but makes it near impossible for Slytherin’s to cosy up with members of other houses. So much for cunning.
HarryPotterFangirl85 chapter 5 . 4/29
Enjoyed it. I’m hoping the sequel shows Voldemort’s ultimate defeat, since I didn’t see another sequel after that one.
Freddie Rindklip chapter 6 . 4/5
Thank you for this fic and I look forward to the sequel.
Freddie Rindklip chapter 1 . 4/5

spiffy2143 chapter 6 . 2/5
Such an awesome story! I could so see Harry being a great big brother and I love the fact that all his family (minus grandparents) is still alive:)

I hope your chemotherapy was successful. Although I have been blessed not to have that particular experience, my mom went through it, and a current friend in France has been dealing with it for a few years now. I pray things are looking up and you are once again strong and healthy.

I enjoyed your story. We seem to have the same idea about Dumbledore - he is a manipulative old goat. I like the older/younger brother theme. It is a different dynamic than I've seen before. Generally, it is Twins.

I look forward to the next installment.

Finally ! Someone write a story in potters reject headmasters suggestion and Harry was loved. Always find it ridiculous, how mother could all of suddenly stop love her son? Especially if it’s Lily Potter.
D.J. Scales chapter 2 . 9/5/2019
Since when do Quidditch Captains have the power to dock points? I thought only Prefects could do that.
D.J. Scales chapter 5 . 9/4/2019
Oh boy oh boy.
D.J. Scales chapter 1 . 9/4/2019
Nice start.
Marcus Rowland chapter 3 . 7/26/2019
Re gingerbread - if the aim is to make a gingerbread house, an obvious starting point is a real house. This has some fairly drastic consequences since gingerbread isn't nearly as strong as bricks, stone, timbers etc... I've used this in my HP/Wonder Woman crossover, but I'm sure that there are other ways it could be utilised in fanfic.
pikapikachuuuuuu chapter 3 . 5/22/2019
I mean, why did you even make Aaron the BWL if you're gonna make Harry do all the work anyways? Are you also gonna make voldemort battle Harry and then make Aaron come at the end to give the killing blow?
You should just have made Harry the BWL then.

there's so much instance where Aaron could have stood up for himself, just because the older brother is protective doesn't mean he have to intervene every time there is a problem. How are gonna make Aaron character grow if Harry resolves all the problems in the story? It doesn't work.

So again, if you were gonna make Aaron a background character, then you should have just made Harry Potter the BWL.
