This is so sweet and I love it

I can honestly see Tony succeeding in bioengineering with what you're going for. This would make a super awesome chaptered fic but the one shot also works because it leaves it to the imagination as to what happened there.

Tony would likely end up accidentally making himself immortal or something close to it via personal experimentation. Or come up with something only too late to use it himself.

Either way no matter what you do here it's still awesome.

I hadn't given it much thought before, but the early part of this story finally made me realize how much Pepper would have been affected by the events of Civil War, even if she wasn't in the movie. As you say here, she would've felt equally hurt that Tony's friends had "betrayed" him and that the whole Avengers initiative had failed to be a much-needed stabilizer in his life.

You also make an excellent point about Tony "taking a break." He never truly does, does he? Even if you send him to a quiet corner of the world all by himself and tell him to just take it easy for a while, it's like his mind and body can't cope with being still. Must drive his well-meaning, rightfully-concerned friends crazy...

P.S. I watched the Spiderman Homecoming preview on your recommendation, and Tony was featured in it way more than I'd expected. I may have to see it just to witness the adorable awkwardness of him trying to mentor Peter and be a good "role model" ;-)

Please finish this up, it's really great! I'm so intrigued to see what will happen next. Your writing is really good, clear and easy to follow and you've captured the characters well.
