You're amazing! This is just magical. I had half hopes they would romantically be together. Even like a subtle kind of thing. People are so detailed and I can just see it being organic. But you truly know how to write these characters.

OMG YAS! I was somewhat confused at first, but once I knew what was happening, it was perfect. I loved this ending! Beautiful

I really enjoyed this story for mainly two reasons:
One, you know how to write this type of story well without making it sound pretentious, something I can deeply respect and thank you for.
Two, I enjoyed the sweet simplicity of the story, where you mainly tackled personal dilemmas and struggles in which these two close characters acknowledge just how much they care about each other and are willing to do for each other. I like the way you display personal sacrifice and just that while mentality of mortality vs. oblivion, both eternal sentences.
(Also I really love your world building In the way you describe the gods as characters. You paint a really good picture of them which builds up an effective atmosphere).

Holy shiz... Just, wow. By about half-way through, this went from being my new favorite Moana story to one of my top three favorite fanfics just in general. The way you tied in the outtakes and other song references, how you used and described the mythology, including the bit about him teaching her the word horizon which is a headcanon I have accepted entirely from that other story, a whole lot more... Don't even get me started on the rising action of this story; Maui getting so emotional, then that twist of him actually having to give up his legacy? That twist actually broke my heart. Second most depressing thing I've read on this website, and I mean that as a good thing and an accomplishment. This story is practically perfect. I've already basically accepted it as post-movie canon, I just love the way you've presented what could have been a really boring, cliche ending and just made it work in a way that is so heartwarming and just plain amazing. To say that the last two chapters are perfect might make it sound like the rest of the story was less so, but it really wasn't. Thank you for one of the best reads in a while. Good god...
