I read this as part of a dare made between me and my friend, where I would torment myself by reading 43 chapters of a crack ship fic in exchange for a drawing. I can fully assure you that after reading this, beginning to end, I have earned it, because my heart feels like it went through a firing squad to get to this point. I wouldn't be surprised if the thing looked like Dominator's fucking logo by this point.

I'll start off with the positives, because there are some (surprisingly). Dr. Nefarious was the best part of this entire thing; he was consistently entertaining (that is, as entertaining as something can be in this) and was written in-character. The crossover stuff was generally smoothly integrated into the story and worked well. Hater's backstory, the Night Mayor and Peepers were good.

If the list of positives seems small and underdeveloped, that is because there is so much of this that is just fundamentally broken that it makes any potential high points act as nothing more than damage control for a story that is -at its core- incredibly insulting to anyone that both got invested in WOY and possesses more than twelve functional brain cells.

I'll knock the small stuff that doesn't need to be elaborated on out of the way quickly; there are a moderate amount of grammatical issues that consistently pop up throughout, like "tittle" being used instead of "title". The Game is absolute shit, the kind of horribly written, unsalvageable trash I would expect to find digging around in the dregs of this god-forsaken website. Deedee is an unimaginably pussy nickname and just makes me think of Dexter's Lab. Sylvia being reborn as Wander and Dominator's daughter is weird and creepy. I don't even know why I should have to point out that someone's best friend being reborn as their kid is creepy. It speaks for itself.

I say these are small because after making my way through this, I wish that the worst things to say about it were grammatical errors, a bad first chapter and clunky plot elements. I fucking wish.

Far and away the worst part of this was Dominator. To call her butchered is, frankly, a massive understatement; her character is such a perverted distortion of her canon self that it's painful to witness, as it tends to be when the character is written as an oversimplified mockery of the original.

Now, there are a lot of parts to Dominator that make her an interesting/good character; things like her genuine sociopathy and complete disregard for life in general, or her supreme egotism and megalomania, or her complete lack of social skills, or her horribly suppressed loneliness and craving for social interaction that she will never truly resolve on the road she's gone down, or how she's a near-identical copy to Lord Hater when she's not completely on top of the situation, or how she's the anti-Wander when she is, and I can go on and on. I almost want to, just so you know exactly how many sides to her and potential routes for good characterization and development you completely threw to the goddamn wayside. What you did instead is make Lord Dominator alternate between acting like a tween fangirl (she gushes about something a good dozen times, at least, over the course of the story) and acting like a wannabe jerk that never really does anything mean besides use crude language. As spiritually damaging as typing that last sentence was, it was immeasurably worse to watch in action. It felt like 43 chapters of getting punched in the balls of my soul.

Good thing she has a good backstory and character arc to make up for this complete, inexcusable flanderization - and by that, I mean good thing both of these things are as horribly made as Dominator herself is.

Her character arc is practically non-existent. She's "bad" for The Second Date (if you count self-defense and one sentence about offing some rando grunts nobody cares about as an adequate presentation of being bad), she dupes Lord Hater in The Revenge, and that's it. She's good now. There is never any meaningful sequence of events put into motion to realistically change her character so drastically, and there is never any part of Dominator that reacts in-character to becoming a massive softie. She's never disgusted with herself. She never expresses any self-doubt. She never even resists, for God's sake. You took the most prideful character in-universe and just made her the complete opposite of everything she is, and she doesn't even bat an eye. What are you even doing?

Her backstory is about as awful, primarily in that it commits cardinal sin; it tries to make Lord Dominator sympathetic. I think this is, bar none, the absolute worst thing that could have been done, ever, in the history of creative writing. She blows up planets for fun. She commits galactic genocide and laughs about it. She goes about her business because she finds it fun, not because of fucking mommy issues. Giving her some sob-story shit backstory that tries to give even a shred of a reason that isn't completely self-serving, vapid and apathetic to the universe at large is the complete antithesis of everything she is and was presented as in the show. You might as well have fucking written that the reason Wander is so nice is because he's secretly planning to gain the galaxy's trust so that he can go behind their backs and crush them.

After that wall of bitterness and utter contempt, you might tell yourself that you can only go up from here, right? Wrong.

Dominator and Wander's relationship is like if you took every shallow couple you ever sat next to in high school that did nothing of note besides make constant body contact and whisper corny admissions of love into each other's ears and made a story about them, except all they do for the entirety of the story is those two things, with no variation at all. They're certainly as superficial as those couples; there's never any low points or actual arguments or bottled-up issues about each other that they keep inside or relaxed moments where they just hang out or moments when their characters just naturally click together (MAYBE BECAUSE IT'S A CRACK SHIP, HINT HINT) or really anything at all resembling a genuine loving relationship.

No, everything is handled in sickening extremes, 100% of the time, 24/7 and 365 for life. Here's the part where they have sex (which I never want to hear about when discussing someone that looks like they came from a goddamn claw machine)! Here's the first kiss! Here's the exorbitant hotel vacation they're taking! Here's the wedding! Here's the part where they come to terms with their rough past together! Do you realize that you need low points to make the high points actually worth something? A roller coaster that does nothing but go up just leaves you feeling sick by the end of it.

It's not like they even get built up into the relationship, either. You know that thing that every single romance worth its salt does, where the characters slowly grow emotionally attached over the course of the story and overcome hurdles to finally get to the point where they admit their love for each other? Yeah? Fucking gone here. Who needs it, right? Just start the thing with Dominator and Wander being attracted to each other and never ever give a valid reason for it. Why is Dominator attracted to Wander when he's a direct opposite to her? What differentiates Dominator from everyone else Wander has ever loved? Who knows? Certainly not me, even after reading it from beginning to end.

I could keep going, because there are certainly more things to tear to shreds, but do I have to? The two main parts of your story are horrific. I don't have to talk about the paint peeling when I just outlined how the building's built on fucking dirt. It's a romance story with an awful lead and an awful romance. That says more about it than anything else I could ever put out.

Great chapter. Really enjoyed this series. I love that twist of Sylvia being reborn as Wander and Dominators daughter. :)

I've read this series from the beginning to the very end, and I only have one thing to say: I LOVE it! Seriously, this was a great series, and I truly enjoyed the way you decided to end it, though I will admit, I hope we get to see just a glimpse of Wander, Dominator, and Sylvia together as a family, either as a one-shot, or as a cameo in a future story of yours.

Anyway, I can't wait for the new story you revealed in the end notes. You've decided to cross one of my two favorite Disney cartoons (with the other being Gravity Falls) with my second favorite anime (with FMA Brotherhood being the only anime I like more), and honestly, I can only imagine what you've got planned for this new story. Here's hoping we end up seeing lots of amazing villains, lots of awesome Stands, and tons of fabulously bizarre action and humor!

PS: Just out of curiosity, are you a Starco or Jarco fan? I'm personally fine with either one, but if I ABSOLUTELY HAD to choose one, I think I'd choose Starco.
