Wow. This is fantastic! First off, Pidge and Shiro have been my favorite characters from the day I first watched VLD, and their relationship was my first favorite in the show. You do a great job of writing about them individually and together. Second, the way you describe space and technology is incredibly detailed; either you really know the gobbledygook, or you're able to give the impression that you know, which is what really matters in writing.

Just out of curiosity, what does "Pairing 1x5" mean?

Some questions and notes on writing mechanics:
~ You might want to specify who you're referring to when you say "What did he know about him?"
~ I think a preposition is missing from "the scarred flesh his shoulder"
~ "prisoner status" isn't really an event.
~ "breath was coming in ragged breaths" is kind of redundant.
~ I think "sharpened" should be "sharpen" as Pidge sees it happening.
~ I can't decide whether it's accurate or inaccurate to say that Shiro didn't lost control of his survival. He fought to survive, but there were so many factors beyond his control that would inhibit his survival ... I'm not sure. Maybe that bit could be moved or rephrased.
~ You say Shiro registers the warmth of Pidge's hands, but you don't say where. Are they still on the aforementioned spots, his shoulder and the small of his back?
~ Why does Pidge make the washcloth hot for Shiro? Wouldn't it make more sense to try to cool him down after he was so hot?
~ "yielded that darkest consequences of all" is a nice bit of syntax, but it's kind of redundant after saying Matt could already be dead. Maybe you could rephrase and have just one or the other.

Rally liked how these two deal with their sorrow. The little exchanges, either be awkward or tender, pulled me in this short snippet.
