I just about turned back when I saw the Shounen-Ai/Yaoi AN notice, as the few I've given a shot in the past I've found to be garbage in some way or another*, I'm glad I didn't. The characters are well-captured so far, particularly Natsu and Erza. Natsu trying to tell himself Gray's alright, yet finding himself involuntarily worrying about Gray when thinking about how badly he was bleeding when unconscious on the floor. His realizing the situation at hand was even better, he only has one outburst, and decides he is going to fix this. He doesn't get moody and aggressive, he resolves to find Lyon and help fix what he's done. I'd imagine this is how he would act if something like this happened in the canon.

Erza's mannerisms and 'voice' are captured superbly, she has a distinct way to speak, but I've not seen too many stories capture it well. Hell, I've had issues myself when working with people on stories; it's always a plus in my books when that kind of detail is captured so well. Her reaction to everything is superb as well, she doesn't immediately draw her sword and vow to cut Natsu's Salamander off for what he did, or try to beat memories into Gray, literally. I do expect she will probably punish Natsu for this, but I'm glad she realizes this was an accident, and Natsu certainly did not want this to happen. And that her first course of action is NOT to castrate Natsu.

Anyway, stilted dialogue is probably one of the biggest story-killers for me. I don't know much about amnesia aside from the most bare-bone basics, but I like how it's portrayed in this story. Gray basically has a blank slate because of this situation, the way he sleeps and his mannerisms being so different shows good attention to detail, and helps show that his situation is that bad.

I guess what I'm straining to get out like a baseball sized kidney stone in the shape of a spiked ball, is that this is really good. I think amnesia is painfully cliche, but this story's done well with how its handled so far. I'm excited about seeing what will happen with Lyon's side of things. I cannot imagine he will take the news well. I'm looking forward to updates to this.

*I feel the need to clarify that I have nothing against same-sex pairings. I like just about any kind of pairing when done right, minus incestuous pairings, harems, or ones involving adults and minors. Stories I've seen that use them though? Often portray them horribly, using Male Pregnancy, abuse, or just general unpleasant hedonism. So, don't accuse me of being a homophobe or some other bullshit.
