Some very impressive word choices here. I had to Google the Inusannon and when I did I was instantly reminded of some faceless creatures that evidently roam the area of space.
This first chapter was insightful, I got to know much of the Inusannon, being the last of it's kind. Then learning of Hannah,the main character,I presume and also,I'm just gonna call him Captain Jack.
Psionic, again I had to Google but it gave me a rough idea of what I'm dealing with here and the power of what they are wielding.

First of all, I have no knowledge of XCom. So, i will consider this an ME-AU; and review from that pov. That said... I love this! Seemed like a good start; you have a talent in writing a certain genius-bastard; and hope it will carry over to dear Jack Harper; he is my favorite character, and I am very heartbroken seeing his fate on ME3. Since Hannah's husband is gone, hopefully Jack will fill in his shoes for Hannah; winkwink; yes, I am a HannahJack shipper; especially if Hannah is fiery (as is the norm with most Hannah Shepard stories) and Jack is cold. Classic fire and ice; opposite attracts; and what not... Anyway; very interested in this story, lookong forward to seeing where this will go. Cheers man!

Hmm so we're seeing this in Hannah's point of view for now, very interesting. We never quite got lot of her in the Mass Effect series, so it's always great see more of her and how she's like. Still if were her, I keep Jack at a arm's length distance, people like him are dangerous and so are their ideals, though I am interested in seeing how you capture him and where you take it from there.

Now, the X-Com series was interesting, I've read couple stories of it but never fully got into it, but seeing it in Mass Effect brings very interesting developments and character interactions, so very interested in seeing once things hit off to Mass Effect and now mention of the Reapers here has well gotten my attention.

Now since you're one for dark themes and etc, my one advise is you want be at a certain balance with it, not like overboard or not enough of it but just kinda right, otherwise few issues may appear from there. But of course, you write as you want and you stick to it as you want, that's just merely me giving my own thought on the matter.
