Minato was a seal master (even grandmaster) with his relation to the Uzumaki. But I think he had made it very clear that it seemed like amongst the Uzumaki's collection of seals for Biju, it all had to be performed by the host themselves. Mito sealed Kyuubi herself, Kushina also sealed Kyuubi herself.

Meanwhile, at that time, Kushina was on the verge of death and Minato had said "Since I'm not a Jinchuuriki, the only viable option is THAT seal" which was then strongly opposed by Kushina who knew she was going to die and unwilling to let Naruto to be left alone. She didn't deny the fact that there's no other choice aside for Shikifujin.

To seal a biju inside a jinchuuriki, it was important to have the Jinchuuriki also cooperate (and the hardest task at that). But Naruto was a baby at that time, so it was impossible for him to cooperate. The only seal that doesn't need cooperation is Shikifujin, the simplest yet the deadliest seal in the collection.

Not to mention, I imagine sealing a biju would take a lot, like the place, the seal marks, people. At the flashback for Hachibi, it was hinted that it needed a lot of people to help the sealing ceremony (and the special sacred place). Minato didn't exactly had a choice then, he had a village to save, a crazy uchiha madman that can phase through things, a dying wife, and a controlled bijuu that was as strong as ever. He wasn't an Uzumaki who was chosen to be a perfect host for bijuus, half of Kyuubi in his body alone made him almost cannot move. The godly yondaime Hokage, cannot move after only half of Kyuubi sealed inside him. That's a clear gloss-over of Uzumaki's capability in being a jinchuuriki.

He truly didn't have any choice. He was working hard to balance his responsibility as a hokage, a father and a husband. But in the end, he couldn't make everyone happy. It pained me when people said bad things about Minato and prompted that he could use another method. every second then could be another person's life gone. His choice to let others knew that Naruto was a jinchuuriki might be extremely naive and idiotic, but he shouldn't be hated because of that.

It’s a jarring experience, by the way, going into a trove of abandoned stories, getting attached immediately to the first one, heart breaking knowing it’ll never be completed, resignedly reading the next one, only for the process to happen again! This happened multiple times and I never got wise to it, i’m happy to say.
