Reviews for The Measure of a Man
ElizB chapter 31 . 6/24
Well, you kept me on a knife edge all the way through; tears, laughter, shock! A most affecting retelling. I loved it.
MoonyInAMask chapter 31 . 6/15
This was an amazing story. Thank you.
Enigma chapter 1 . 5/4
I have loved reading this story so much! Your characterisation and portrayals of Erik and Christine are electrifying! I dearly hope you chose to continue, but I wanted to let you know what a talented author you are! I look forward immensely to reading your other works! :) - Enigma
MissyH316 chapter 31 . 4/2
Mmmm... *Sigh* ... at LAST - Completion as 2 become 1. I-)
MissyH316 chapter 24 . 4/1
Mmmm... things are looking cozy and getting rather warm... I-)
MissyH316 chapter 23 . 4/1
Man, I'm liking the backbone Christine has in this story as she showed in the latter part of this chapter! :-)
MissyH316 chapter 21 . 4/1
Ok - well, I was admittedly sceptical about Erik and 'Carla' being lovingly married, even in an "alternative-universe" fascinating story like this one. But, ah-hah! Guess that scenario was too unbelievable, so it's back to standard with these two hating each other!
MissyH316 chapter 20 . 4/1
Christine, in ANY century, whenever talking with Erik, never thinks about how bad it is to use words like "proposed", "to me", "engaged", or "marriage" in the same sentence as "Raoul". Yikes! :-O Maybe best she keep a hand raised beside her eyes for awhile, and at no time leave both E&R alone together, unguarded!
MissyH316 chapter 19 . 4/1
Wow; so modern-day Erik is also a 12-string axe man, too! It shouldn't be a surprise given the time setting; I'm just so used to seeing him only playing instruments from the 17th century. ;-)
Man, Christine - if you don't want him, please send him my way. I think we'd honestly get along great! :-)
MissyH316 chapter 15 . 4/1
Ah, we all gotta just love the reparté between Erik and Nadir. They remind me somewhat of an old married couple who always get on each other's nerves but care deeply about each other just as much. ;-)
MissyH316 chapter 14 . 4/1
And of course, Raoul just had to show up unannounced and at just the wrong time. Looks like Christine has a more mature nature than the fop-er, Raoul, based on his reaction. Glad you've made Christine as a more grounded, down-to-earth person than just some emo, fragile girl. (I also love how she helped and stood up for Erik after those punks attacked him!)
MissyH316 chapter 13 . 4/1
Oh, my! Poor Erik! It was too bad he wasn't able to whoop their $$es as I'm sure he would've! I'm just thankful it wasn't Christine who unmasked him, as it is in most stories - but good for her keeping her cool under pressure and was able to kindly (and fearlessly!) to help him through it all. I also just hope he doesn't push her away; hopefully she's earned enough of his trust given how she conducted herself in the horrible experience.
MissyH316 chapter 10 . 4/1
Ok - Erik... and 'Carla' Guidicelli ... were MARRIED? :-O Now I KNOW we're in an alternate universe here! And I'd first thought, of course, that she'd ditched Erik for another man, causing him heartbreak. But it was still horribly tragic how he lost her, and permanently so. And his poor face - it's probably one of the worst cases of disfigurement he's been written as having. :-(. But I like how he's taken with Christine; I'll bet hit didn't know what hit him! ;-)
MissyH316 chapter 9 . 4/1
Well, now there's a switch: Erik is taking Christine out on a high-falutin' date already! Boy, he's moving fast! ;-) Lol And I can already see the smoke coming out of Raoul's ears! This'll be good! ;-D

BTW - I like how you've got Meg and Christine a little older and a bit more mature, but still with familiar personalities.

Well, we saw fireworks earlier, and now I suspect they're gonna be coming back, albeit in a different form - REAL soon! ;-)
MissyH316 chapter 5 . 4/1
So far, so good!
