This is great, not just for the alternative endings it imagines for Olivia and Fitzgerald (and Cyrus, and Hollis) but for the relationship Olivia clearly has with Mellie's children. The alliance between Olivia and Mellie is as hollow as it is in canon specifically because we've only seen Olivia interact with Karen once, that this reviewer can recall. And the notion that Mellie's absent father kept her commissary account full was rather endearing.

So reading this, I thought to myself, what if at the end of scandal it was all just a dream and it goes back to when Olivia and Fitz first met and he decided to drop out of the race and just remains governor, divorces Mellie and then they do a fast forward with Olivia and Fitz in the White House. I don’t know why that came to mind but it did.
