Geez, I have tears in my eyes! I know this isn't canon, but it's so good. I love how you made the big brother/big sister program a volunteer thing for the Garrison. It makes sense that the Garrison would encourage the new generations of teachers and trainers to 'get their feet wet' as you said in dealing with kids.

And Shiro is such a sweetie. I love how Keith looked up to him from the get-go. He thought he was cool and not cruel, and I love how their relationship just blossomed from there.

This is a beautiful, bittersweet story, and I love re-reading it.

I've been away for a while, with family troubles, but I'm back! I only just watched seasons six and I'm sooo happy! This fan fiction is practically canon! You wrote something so good that it's canon!

Wow, this is one of the best Keith stories. Hopefully you can write more about Keith sometime? Most of your stories seem to be about Lance, but you write a really good Keith. Probably one of the best.

I just finished the story and am practically sobbing. This story was so well written. This is my main head cannon for Keith and Shiro.

Goshdarnit this was beautiful. A well-developed background story that I could even see being true in the canon. The humor, the emotions, even just the weight on how lucky Keith is compared to other kids - this is great, just like everything else you have written. Good job, to say the least:)

The concept of this fic had me clicking right away! Oh, I would love for something like this to be exactly how Keith and Shiro met. (Concerning the show, I love Pidge and all, but I'm ready for backstory and more development for the other characters!)

Heh, the wretchedness of Keith's situation reminded me of Harry Potter with the Dursleys. It's a bit much for me, but then again things like this also depend on target audience. I haven't read much fanfic, so it's difficult to judge what audience it's aimed at like one would with novels. *shrug* (Oh, I hope my editor brain isn't being too obnoxious here. I'm not sure what kinds of thoughts fic writers want! Aka - apologies if I nitpick.)

I adored the part where Keith first met Shiro, and the way he was practically drooling at the thought that he was talking to a fighter pilot. It was also great the way Shiro talked about football and some of the other students at the garrison - you made it feel as if he was part of a group and has a life! You know, shows often have to brush over things like that. I get why, with all the many factors a group of creators have to deal with, but little details go a long way, so I love that you grounded readers with something so simple.

The zoo scene was so sweet! Then Keith getting to drive Shiro's motorcycle! Oh, btw, I love the idea that Keith hot-wired one before that. It definitely sounds like something he would've done...
That foster brother, though. Ugh, I hate that people can say such horrible things to each other! Poor Keith. But then Shiro was there, and had somehow maneuvered things to get Keith into the Garrison, and it was beautiful!

Shiro's my favorite character in Voltron, and I think you nailed his behavior here. Just the perfect amount of patient observation and firm action - you know, as needed. You wrote that so well! The dialogue is also great. Well done!

I might have already posted a review on this, but I wanted to do one now, just in case I haven't yet. I've reread this about 4 times now, and it still gets me every time. As always, Shiro and Keith are really in character. Keith isn't exactly how he is in the show, but the show is 4 years later so it makes sense for him to act/feel that way.
And I have a suggestion for you. You don't have to do it, you're writing other fics so it makes sense if you don't, but hear me out. I would LOVE it if you wrote some more Keith-centric fics. Like I said earlier, and on other fic reviews, you write him very in character. You probably write him more in character than any other writer I've read. I just love reading your Keith, and he has a lot of potential for angst. Keith is a very independent guy, probably because of his childhood (at least in your universe) and that could be a bit of a struggle for him in some situations. Say, for example, if his and Lance's roles in Sin were reversed. I think Keith would have some trouble relying on Lance when he was going through the rituals. At the very least, he'd have some inner turmoil about it. He could have a whole character arch about him learning to trust and rely on people more, and it could bring him closer to everyone on team voltron. Like in color, Lance's whole character arc, and the story, is about him gaining self esteem and him learning he doesn't have to meet expectations for people to love him. In a Keith centric story, like I said earlier, he could learn to let go of things and rely on people. That you don't have to do everything on your own. That, say, crying on someone's shoulder doesn't mean you're weak. I know in a lot if your fics Lance learns this a little too, but I think it would be even harder, and even more important, for Keith to learn. This is a crazy long review, but please give it some serious thought. I know you can come come up with other stuff you could have him have angst over, because you're great at that kind of thing. :) I'd love to see what you'd come up with. At least consider it, and I'd be rediculously happy if you did it. If not, I'll be content with this and the amazing Lance content you've given us. Thanks for reading!
