This one was full of fluff and good times that it makes me worried about whats to come. This happiness of theirs, this is not going to stick, is it? Gosh, I am so exited about what will happen.

I'm fucking whipped! this is the greatest fic I've read, love absolutely every part of this masterpiece. girl your writing is so flawless, the whole chapter and characters fit perfectly for the era. i love how flirty and playful bonnie is here, their chemistry killed me i needed to take few breaks to deal with it i was a smiling mess!
Joshua and the brothers scene in the car where they tease him about his age is so funny and pure, also the understanding relationship between josie and kai, wish they had a chance to be close on the show.
adored the part the gang "uh uhh"-ed kai about not wanting bonnie i love THIS. i also mentioned bonkais chemistry before but girl i can't thank you enough this really made my day, you're extremely talented and I'm absolutely whipped! sorry this review is messy, tried to put all my thoughts in one and it still didn't express half of the feelings i had through this. honestly bless you

I think I mentioned in my review of the last chapter how weird I am about story that take place early than, like, mid-1980s, so my anxiety was through the roof on this edition! In a good way, but whew! I'm so worried for Bonnie and Mal. Justifiably so. It's not a great time race-wise. It's an even worse time for interracial couples, so every apprehension I picked up on. Joshua's unease when Mal tells his family he and Bonnie are getting married. If pushing their honeymoon one more day to hear the news of the election was foreshadowing. If the terf war will the Mikaelsons will end up with Bonnie and/or Mal dying. What if John Gilbert catches wind of their union and uses it as leverage? Fuck, what if he partners with the Mikaelsons? I'm freaking out over here!

On the note of the written use of the 'n' word you expressed on tumblr, I understand and empathize where you're coming from. It induces such an instinctual response and I know it must be hard to be the one who wrote it. I love that the character who uses it gets immediately punished, which is clearly a sign the narrative disapproves. It's the right move, but I also understand as a writer your unease of keeping it written as it presently is. I think you should keep it because it is, unfortunately a sign of the times, but I think you should do whatever you feel is best for the story you're telling.

I can't wait to see what else awaits married and expecting BonniexMal!

I thought he was gonna kill John right there girl! It's cute that his siblings are sincerely happy for him about Bonnie and how Damon married them. This is quickly becoming a favorite of mine and bless you for writing it! I'm glad Kai accepted the pregnancy so quick and he was happy about it. I wonder how he'll react once the baby is born and racism becomes more of a problem.

I don't remember if I already sent a review on Chapter 1, but if I hadn't then this one will comment on both. So I normally shy away for historical/past AUs because I'm such a stickler for historical accuracy (in general terms, not the fine details unless those are focused on too) and I hate reading a story that whitewashes history or views it in a strictly rosy-tint. This though is far from that, and I love it. I read the second chapter in one sitting, it was just that good. Not sure which parts I liked best, but I like how you're committed to highlighting the different slang/accents, how you've realistically portrayed racial tensions, and Bonnie and Kai haven't 'lost' themselves by being placed in a totally different era/situation from the original show. The fact they got married! UGH, I'm in love, wish that could have been fleshed out more just because I love lovey-dovey/romantic BonKai. Same with their trip to the honeymoon spot, just wanted to see more of how their train/car ride went. And to clarify, not saying these parts were rushed, just wanted to see more of it. :)

LOL Maybe these two (him and Mally) can be friends? /hinthintnudgenudge/ Ignore me. :D Also lowkey want Bonnie to call Mally Kai now, just so she's the only one who uses that nickname for him. :) ANYWAY, awesome chapters, got me hooked.
