Love love love that there was a (nice long) update! And all the emotion and feelings and thoughts were well done. A part that particularly stuck out to me was his explanation of moving the first piece after her. To me, it was him essentially saying "I see you; someone in this world cares." Even though that wasn't explicitly stated, the way you wrote his perspective of the interaction spoke volumes more to his intent (even if he didn't know what it was)

Girl. Giiiirl this is amazing. I stayed up way past my bedtime to read this, and it was SO worth it. First off, I LOVE that you went straight into dialogue between the two of them. I feel like it would have been easy to have one of them run away and have all sorts of misunderstandings between them, but when Usagi pulled out that chair? PERFECT, and so in character. I also love your explanation of how Mamoru has grown upthe muscles filling out, getting better at peopling but having Usagi send him back into some of his old ways because he just can’t take it. Seriously, I felt like I was in that deserted coffeeshop with them. Your scene setting, your dialogue, your characterization is all just PERFECT. I love the flashbacks to the scenes with Mamoru and Wasureta, and all of the explanations of WHY Mamoru started playing chess with Usagi and of course he felt more secure behind a phone and a fake identity (I mean don’t we all?) and OF COURSE he would feel guilty about it. You’ve tied your entire story together so well with this chapter, and I honestly can’t wait to read it over and over. This was so worth the wait, and you’re such a damn talent and this fandom is so lucky to have you!

Mamoru is TOTALLY his worst enemy. In every version, he is the one holding himself back. You gotta continue! I need to know where this goes! How he turns this around. Or will it be her, this time?
