Where to start? I absolutely LOVED this story. The original and the add-ins. I am looking forward to the sequel so much because GOSH DARN IT WHO'S THE KID? I have SO many questions and can't wait to see where it goes!

The story of this is just... I am so grateful someone can write something that is so sweet with Bucky and Steve that isn't a Stucky fic. I just... they are brothers. Personal opinion and all, but they are so cute in this tale, but it's all written as intentionally BrooklynBros and I love that.

It had emotional ups and downs. Not everything was fluff and not everything was just angst. The payback from all the hurt was worth the wait. It wasn't rushed, it took it's time to heal Bucky and didn't just go: "Let's fix him in two chapters." That would have been unrealistic and the serious issues (addiction, suicide, etc.) were not just brushed over. I would never recommend this story to a kid, but any older audience? Heck yes!

I also love how clean this story is. There is minimal cursing (and any cursing is thought through and not just thrown in because it's "normal"). I can't read anything that curses every other paragraph. It isn't natural. It drives me crazy and just seems lazy to me. You can show frustration and annoyance through things other than just screaming curses, which this story did beautifully. There wasn't anything "inappropriate" just more serious subjects, which I loved. You can stay clean and go more mature and you captured it wonderfully.

I also love the song lyrics at the beginning and the scripture at the end. I commend your courage on putting your beliefs out there in the world, especially when many act toxically toward religion. I loved drawing comparisons between the scriptures and the story plot. It's wonderful and don't ever change that.

I'm trying to think of my favorite part and am drawing up a blank. I will say, I think i liked Bucky's/Winter's POV better than Steve's. This is only because while reading Steve's, I couldn't figure out Bucky- which was great! But I am grateful for the other side of the story.

My one complaint: Reading the last chapter, it didn't feel like an ending... and then I got to the "end" end and went, "OOOHHHHH... sequel." So this is kind of a moot point since it's just me being picky, but I wish the last chapter could have ended in a way that if there was no sequel it would have felt like a real finale. I loved returning to the cabin, but... I don't know, something just felt off. Maybe it was just me. It was still a good ending and I did enjoy it.

Anyway, 10/10 is my rating. Good storyline, not drawn out or rushed, good character development, the writing conveys the emotions of the situation beautifully and stayed true to the source material. I can believe this is Steve, Bucky, and Sam. I hope it carries on in the sequel and whoever this kid and wife are (kinda hoping it's Peggy but I have no idea how you can do that in a realistic situation so... we'll just have to see).

I... I can't even put into words how much I adore this fic (and Make Me Whole). It's been such an amazing ride and reading that only one more chapter's to follow is kinda bittersweet. You've somehow managed to make the guys "come alive" in a way...

Jut want to say, I love your stories and have so much fun and so many feels reading them!
I've been reading 'Make me Whole' and 'Shards of Me' side by side, first one perspective, then the other, and it works so nicely to give the story an extra wholeness.
I was just wondering if there is any particular reason that 'Shards of Me' is not in chronological order?
Makes it a little tricky to find the next chapter when trying to read it in sequence with 'Make me Whole'.
Anyway, not supper important, I can sort through them easily enough, just wondered if you ever thought of arranging them all chronologically.

Love each and every one of these 42 chapter. So well-written! And I must say, while I'm a sucker for Steve and Bucky, I especially love your take on Sam. You've really given him the depth and complexity that I feel he deserves as a character. Thank you for all your work on this story, and the empathy you've put into it. I imagine some of the chapters must have been very hard to write.
