That seems to me a very good reason to at least justify what Sulfur is doing. The caregivers seem to have vast knowledge of the RWBY canon and everything that should have happened in the actual show. Those breaks in the fourth wall in the beginning, which I honestly thought were fabulous, demonstrate that.

To someone like Sulfur who simply isn't interested in morale and whatnot, this seems like a good reason and motive for his actions. As a caregiver, he knows at least something about the events that affect the Remnant world. And since all he wants is excitement, it's understandable that he wants to accelerate the factors that lead to the most exciting parts of the RWBY plot.

That's why he did what he did on Mountain Glenn and that's why he had to kill Blake. He only knows and feels that such events must occur in order for the plot to advance.

I had expected more from Cryphilictal. Since you have been talking about it since almost the beginning of the story, with the transdimensional plate. Something more crazy, exciting and long; but seeing how Nicholas and his cult ended up delving into it, I think my expectations are met. The city had only been asleep all this time, and boy, the team could have died at least seven times.

This arc was good, and the story is always wonderful to read. It is exquisite.

I can't help but think Blake's death looks like some kind of Plot Coupon.

Something that is destined to push the plot of the story to its final intersection, and which will only unfold for pure convenience. And looking at each of Blake's connections to the other factors in this story, it seems more than likely.

Being that she knew Jaune and Emerald, and they were more than just acquaintances. She was Yang's partner, being the leader of her team, bringing all of Beacon into the mix. Since I doubt that the murder of one of his team leaders will stop there. And all the participation she had with the White Fang and Adam, something that we will surely see in the future.

You imply that the greatest peak in history is approaching. Something, which will be even crazier and more complicated, than simply going to a city of discord and irrationality, for a damn MacGuffin.

Everything coming together.

Finally, we are already entering the last of the sections of this wonderful fanfic, after a fantastic and horrible journey.

After everything that happened at Cryphilictal; at least the protagonists deserve a little rest. After all this mental and physical torture. Wow that was fun.

I like how Jaune and Emerald finally take the first step in what could be considered a kind of relationship. Maybe they are not something more official as boyfriends, but they are already taking the first step. Not to mention, that Power Up they both received, in that monstrous city.

Ruby is already healed and Yang's interaction has finally consolidated. All these events of insurance will be important for what is to come. And more with characters like Raven and Ozpin in the mix; taking the first step to meet the Unkwown World. All of this is being encouraged, so that the Unknown World can be opened to them in the future.

It kills me with laughter like none of the characters in the Ozpin's Group or the Salem's Inner Circle, they have no idea of the Unknown World and everything that is beyond them. Being, that they believe themselves to be the only ones who know about the knowledge of magic, and their reactions will surely be exquisite. Je.

The Sulfur and Blake thing, I really hope there is more to all of this in the future. It feels like you are setting the stage for something bigger, and I feel like the next arch will be fabulous.

I love this fanfic!

I'm going to start with how the Cryphilitical arc is honestly some of the best storytelling on this site. The ruined city has this unstable insanity of Kurouzu-cho from the graphic novel Uzumaki with how time seems to accelerate faster and faster the further inward you go melded with the pure malicious oppression of the city of Dis from The Inferno. The creaping dread that comes with the inverted tower, reminiscent of the ancient otherworldly incomprehensibility of Ryleth, adds to the atmosphere and makes the everpresent paranoia something that I could feel by just reading about it.

I normally don't want to read fics with Major Character Death, but with how spectacularly this last Arc was, I'm inclined to keep going if just for the quality.

Personal favorite parts of this story are the characters and the growing depth of the unknown like Gravity Falls. Going with that metaphor, I guess it is at this point where Bill Cypher joins the game. Many Kudos.

Overall a decent arc, although Raven bailing out the group was unexpected. I had expected the arc to continue for several more chapters to account for the retreat and return journey back to Vale.

Thanks for the chapter. I like it. You know, in the place of Jaune, I would have crashed Yang after it was over. Seriously, she essentially dragged them into danger and, albeit indirectly, the Emerald lost her fingers because of this. I hope Yang seriously apologize to them for making them go through this.

I really hate sulfur

I just discovered last night and i was like, oh nice something to read while i queue for my game. It was safe to say i forgot about the game and sleep at all to binge this from the start until chap 36.

Small errors aside. This story is absoutely engaging, good worldbuilding and power system. What truly got me was how, imo, balanced the tension was in relation to the plot. It may not be perfect but this story has heart, and thats what kept me going from beginning upto chap 36 all in one night. Very nice.
