My god this is amazing. I’m not usually into Ruby x Jaune, if that’s what this is I hope, but you’ve established a natural dynamic between the two that doesn’t feel forced like many other stories I’ve read. So to summarize I’ve wholeheartedly enjoyed this fanfic, can’t wait to read more, and JaunexRuby all the way.

Nice chapter, though one without any significant developments it is, I suppose a breather compared to the previous one. I did appreciate the general theme of Jaune’s “facade” (if you can call it that) cracking and it being Ruby and Yang who are noticing rather than anyone else. Personally more interested in how this plays into the Game between Cinder and Oz and co, but the past Jaune-Ruby plot’s not a major distraction. It would be nice to see into Jaune’s past, but at this stage in my opinion it’s a bit more secondary than the development of the impact of Jaune’s arrival and throwing long-term plans into disorder.

A good show of Jaune’s leadership throughout, especially at the end, though that act will certainly make him stand out from the rest. In doing so he’s drawing the attention of others much more quickly; not just Yang, but probably Glynda, Ozpin and Cinder too, and the latter three will be more concerned than Ruby is about how instinctively he falls into the role of command. I do wonder what will happen with Cardin though – after that he’d be unlikely to go after Oxford/Typhoon/Lemon.

Jaune’s musings on faunus and grimm are interesting. He might be a bit too verbose and “scientific” in his reasoning for someone whose main job is probably not that, but he’s got a lot of experience and could break things down like that anyway (mainly doubtful about his vocabulary and way of thinking, which is a bit distinct from his usual train of thought). I imagine that he’d still be a bit wary around faunus though, his experience will probably correlate a bit with paranoia.

OH imagine for shits and gigs Yang does a roundabout and like starts to fall for Jaune cause *a well thought out reason* and then maybe for funsies have like low undertones for Cinder as well, maybe for boredoms sake while she waits for the right date to set her plans in motion she flirts with Jaune, god I'd kill to see that~

OH nearly forgot about Pyrrha now that I thunk about it It'll still be funny if like Pyrrha, Ruby and Cinder were to have like an epic battle for Jaune's affection and Cin's there like '? Why are we still here? Just to suffer?'

Oh here's a little idea plan you could do, make it so that Jaune' s resurfacing memories makes him more comfortable with Ruby like casual touches, hand holding and the etc. Ruby's social oblivious make her thinks 'oh this is totally normal for best friends' and/Or with romantic undertones, Yang slowly builds an weird dislike for Jaune and he has no idea what's happening.

That is if you aren't already in the process of that.

Awesome chapter! I really love how the plot is moving forward.

But what was the highlight of this chapter for me was how Jaune managed to get Ruby's mind back in track.
We really could see his life experiences shining through.
