I gotta say, Pink became my favorite character the second the reveal aired. I joke about her being a gremlin, but she's more than that. Naive, foolish, flawed, but hopeful and compassionate. She didn't want to cause harm at the end, but alas, ignorance was not bliss in this case. I really love this story and how you wrote Pink. Best fic I've read about her to date!

God, that hits me right in the feels. I appreciate someone trying to rationalize pink's/rose's actions, and this just speaks to me on so many levels as an aspiring writer. Good luck on whatever you're going to write next, as it will surely be amazing! :)

I believe Pink made lots of mistakes, but I do believe that she grew not in a literal sense, but in wisdom, understanding, and compassion as she lived on the Earth. A good person/gem is capable of horrible acts, especially when it means that they are doing it for cause they deeply care about. We all lie for different reasons. Sometimes we find it easier to lie because deep down, it is easier than giving the truth. I think that is what Pink thought. It was easier to be Rose Quartz and start the rebellion than to be Pink Diamond and start the rebellion. Who knows how much more furious that the other Diamonds would have been. I am willing to see Pink as a gem who did everything that she could think of for the greater good. At the same time, I want to learn more about how she came to her decisions in detail.

I get what you're saying about Rose. I'm sure she had nothing but the best intentions, but how are we supposed to trust in her when she can't even be honest with the people who love her?

Between this and what happened with Bismuth, I wonder if anyone really knew the real Rose Quartz.

Plus, let's be honest here: making it so that Pearl literally couldn't talk about the event in question was a jerk move.

I can imagine this being canon easily. The show is full of characters with immense regrets. I am sure in canon Pink Diamond has her own demons that tormented her until she gave up her form. I also think that deep in the gem, Pink Diamond still exists. I think that I have a heart wrenching story to write now.

I love this. And I believe in Rose, too. Tbh, I saw her chage from Pink to Rose as being somewhat along the lines of transitioning gender. She was born a Diamond, but never felt like she was meant to be one. Rose Quartz was who she felt she was, away from her status and a role she didn't feel comfortable in. As Rose, she could be open with how she felt and she didn't want to tell people she used to be a Diamond, in case they treated her like what she was, instead of what she'd become.

This is a very good 2-shot. I was surprised when I found out that Rose quartz was really Pink diamond.
