OOF! This was such an intense, suffocating, heart-breaking read! I enjoyed your characterizations of Naruto and Konohamaru - both really felt like themselves despite the horrific situation. You could feel the horror of Orochimaru's lair within every word; your descriptions were vivid and terrifying in exactly the way they should be in a fic like this.

I had a feeling early on that Sasuke was masquerading as Marionette - the ending seems like it might imply this, what with him "losing his team" in the area of Naruto and Konohamaru, but it's vague enough that I'm not 100 percent certain. I found this due to the existence of a sequel, however, so I am curious if that answer will be found there. I will just have to check it out to find out, then, won't I? Looking forward to part 2!

So Naruto has been taken over by Orochimaru though it looks like he still has his personality still. I am probably wrong, but I am going by evanescence meaning on this though.
