This whole chapter made me cry. Like, Zipporah knows her husband is going to die, and she's trying so hard to deny it, but then she's faced with the realization that she really has no choice... Good job, you made me cry.

So I was right, he was executed by firing squad for his part in the rebellion. But why hide it? What was so horrible about fighting for Irish independence that the rest of the family would try to wipe this branch out? Unless Fiona and Kit are somehow tied into this and it goes deeper than the rebellion.

Doesn't Timothy Michael call his oldest child Kathleen Helen in an earlier chapter? I think I remember reading that somewhere. So are all the family members of the current family (McGees, except John) named after previous family members? Because if Tim's full name is actually Timothy Michael, and Kathleen's full name is Kathleen Helen, would that mean that Sarah's full name is Sarah Katherine? I think that's kind of cool; it's a neat way to keep the previous members of the family alive.

This chapter absolutely broke my heart. He clearly knows what's going to happen to him, even if she doesn't or won't acknowledge it. I'm just guessing that this is probably a couple of days before the baby is born. It just seems like it. I mean, I know it says that she had a week before giving birth, but still... they could just up the execution (I'm guessing that's what it is) to the next couple of days to save time.
