I am sorry that, after so much work, you are facing such an anticlimactic end. This is one of my children's senior year; I don't know if she'll get to walk across a stage. That's something we all took for granted. It's OK to grieve losing things we expected and looked forward to. Congratulations to you on your achievement!

As for the story, your writing is vivid, your characterizations are authentic, and your scenario gut-wrenching. I loved the imagery in this chapter of Sam rising through jewels toward shining light. It was fascinating because light usually equals goodness while darkness equals evil. (Demons eyes are black.) But here, the light Sam was rising to was surrendering to Lucifer (the Morning Star, an "Angel of Light") so he had to relinquish that and allow himself to fall. Powerful. Great choice in making the true Sam trapped inside a block of ice. It works so well symbolically.

I love how these brothers need each other. It's been criticized as unhealthy codependency, but it is Sam's recognition that he LOVES Dean, that he doesn't hate him, that allows him to forsake the compelling summonings of Lucifer. The song Brother says, "It's your love that leads me home." Of course, I adore Dean's willingness to sacrifice for Sam.

This is really well written. I love Bobby and Dean's interactions. They really sound authentic. The inventive horrificness of what was done to Sam is absolutely chilling. I loved the little detail of Dean, unable to buy the expensive chicken nuggets, trying to cut them up to make his little brother happy. His emotional explosion at the end of the chapter is very convincing. The whole situation is heartbreaking all around.
