Reviews for The Boy-Who-Lived and the Boy-Who-Broke
Blackplant chapter 48 . 6/8
Ah, now this is very interesting. While I'd like to see longer chapters, you've done a good job so far. I'll definitely read more.

Just by the by, I've always been kind of disappointed that Rowling seems to have not really looked at the celtic tree circle for wand lore. In it, yew is also a wood associated with war.

peanut butter... rats at least prefer it to cheese, im sure mice as well but i havent utilized mouse traps as much as rat traps...
WindbornesWord chapter 48 . 5/13
Good chapter, I do hope you don’t plan on actually blinding Shinji. Maiming kids is kind of one of my big No No’s that necessitate me dropping a story immediately. I’d really rather not drop this.

- Wandlore
Mixing Elder and Yew would be far more worrisome than Vine and Yew, based on the personality traits. (Far more inclined towards dominating others.)

Same goes for Vine and Walnut. (Mad scientist version really.)

*shrugs*

Dogwood and Spruce would fit with Sirius or the Weasley Twins. (Probably Dragon heartstring core or maybe Curupira hair.) ;-P

A triple mix of Blackthorn, Ebony and Yew would be s nasty Auror wand from my perspective. (Or a Kryptonian, as they supposedly have a triple helix strand for their genetics IIRC.)

Especially if it had a White River Monster spine core.

Or mixes of Thunderbird and Phoenix feathers.

Or the horns from a Horned Serpent and Basilisk.

*shrugs*

- Cores
While JKR made a lot of hooplah about how Olivander did some grandiose research into cores. I'm more inclined towards economical reasons for this.

A) If people bring their own ingredients, than you can't charge them as much.

B) And the three cores he works with are fairly plentiful in the UK, thus allowing for his premanufactured wands, rather than custom ones.

There's a dragon reserve in Wales and the one in Romania, which is bigger isn't that far off either. Unicorns in the Forbidden Forest and Fawkes at Hogwarts.

Thestral hair isn't included, due to the bad rep the creature has. (No actual study towards field proclivities or other characteristics. Which if he had done the research, he should've jotted down, even if it were less effective than the ones he was using.)

Veela hair only works well for relatives etc.

And between Dragon and Unicorn he can make wands that match near anyone, with the phoenix feathers for the tricky ones.

Why waste money on more esoteric materials (like Thunderbird, which he'd have to import from MACUSA and which has proven to be on the same level of steadiness as Phoenix feathers) if you're just doing mass production anyway?

Let's take Harry's canon wand into consideration. Length of the wand is partially influenced by body size as well as personality.

Would a not abused Harry, but a loved one end up with the same wand length? Based upon what JKR herself has said, the only reasonable conclusion can be no.

So that would nix the brother wand scenario from the word go.

So that makes the canon wand more likely a request by Dumbledore, who knew what life Harry was living.

*shrugs*

So yeah, think that Flitwick is slightly overreacting to the wand.

- Sluggy
Not sure where you're going with him. Unlike the Akagi thing, which seems to be just a throwaway reference/easter egg. Sluggy seems to be plot related. So wait and see.

*... looking for any spells, potions, potions, or any other thing that could disturb his master's digestion.*

Think one of those "potions" should be "poisons", otherwise it's just needless repetition.

*He put it over his master's desk, to be read at his pleasure.*

"... over on his ..."

One could ellipse "over", but it's not mandatory. More a personal style preference really.

Something tells me I should pity Draco and Ron. Shinji being the apprentice to the Marauders is a scary thought. As Palpatine says: Goood.
god of all chapter 48 . 5/12
Great chapter and story so far please continue this story soon.
shugokage chapter 48 . 5/12
Nice job on this chapter!
Tinfoot chapter 47 . 5/6
Bretty gud, hope you keep up with this
One minor nitpick is that there's only supposed to be one speaking character per line, but it was alright more often than not

- Perks
Yeah, another case of JKR not really doing her homework.

All we know for certain is, that she never sat her OWLs.

Whether that means foul play at the end of the 4th Year, an accident, her parents pulling her out for whatever reason (like being first gems themselves, taking Harry's warming seriously and leaving the country, due to lack of faith in the Ministry) or something else?

Too many options and no ways to narrow it down.

And now she has to deal with a meddling old coot with delusions of adequacy. What did she do in a previous life to have ended up with this sort of Karma?

First the Lorry, than the old geezer with the candy obsession and an unhealthy fixation on teenagers.

*shakes head*

Poor kid.

- "I'm in the money".
So she does have a third eye, which is telling her she'll be getting monetary compensation for her 2nd Year, because Harry is s bleeding heart, who's taking on the responsibilities that belong to others. *cough*Dumbledore & the School Board*cough*

Wooly subject indeed.

;-P

The goblins are becoming my favorite faction. Very dedicated and clever. Huh, two loves of her life, I wonder who they could be... Keep up the good work on this fic and on the others. Really enjoyable stuff and neat information about tea leaves.
WindbornesWord chapter 47 . 5/2
Good chapter, as always my sole complaint is that it’s too long between chapters, but if I could I’d chain writers to desks and make them write 24/7. So take my complaint as the compliment it is that I really want to keep reading more of this story.
Aracade chapter 47 . 5/2
Hermione, twice loved. Wow, girl, you are eather in for an aqucward love triangle or a very good time.

... giggle :D

This does bring up something I wonder about some times. Just how much crap normal people pull off would stun magicals speechless. I on occasion see people defend magicals as magic 'flocks with reality' and sure that is fine and dandy. BUT! as evidence by their society, they pretty much stop and/or very slowly advance otherwise which means that reality-bending powers or not, falling behind on non-magical tech could/would make that a non-issue.

"I can bend reality"
"That's nice, we've reached the point that we visit other planets and dimensions when we take family vacations."

Glad you remember poor Sally Anne. That is one of those characters that is massively open to interpretation because you get a name calling then boom, no longer exist. It's almost sad in a way. That's worse than being just a side character or a non-entity. At least those are still background noise. Perks, got NAMED and then didn't even get regulated to background noise.

As is proper, thanks for another chapter.

As an extra, stay healthy in this time of weirdness.
Darkfire99 chapter 46 . 4/22
Great chapter, but I have to ask was 'The boy who lived and the siren's song' a reference to the Harry/Daphne story 'Harry Potter and the Siren's Song' by hermyd?
WearyCurmudgeon chapter 46 . 4/20
- Experiment
I do hope that they took into account that you have to replicate an incident as closely as possible.

Meaning you start out with the same brands (and not a completely different one, just because it was cheaper) involved in the original incident, then slowly spread out from there. Testing other brands to find out, which have similar effect and which don't etc.

Otherwise, you're just wasting resources (death row prisoners).

And yes, I saw the A/N, it's more the principle of the matter.

Irrespective of that they wouldn't be able to replicate the feat, till Nagini gets one implanted and you'd then have to turn her human again, to replicate Harry's initial incident.

You don't start out an experiment to replicate an outcome by utilizing completely different factors.

Again, you imitate it as closely as is feasible, till it's replicated and after that do you start fiddling with the values to find out the minimum requirements or what supercharges an outcome.

That's how you do proper research. Otherwise, you're just wasting time and resources.

*shrugs*

- Rei
So more of a side branch to the metamorphmagus concept. Human only, but pretty much every human that got tanged and all the possible permutations that arise from that.

So creating someone that naturally looks like Tier Harribel or Arslan Altan without needing magical or cosmetic help to pull it off. (Dark skinned blondes or what the Japanese call Gyaru.)

*shrugs*

Also presents some interesting ideas for the bedroom. Two Harrys or Two Hermiones and the other party. Heh.

;-P

(Reminds me of a story where Sirius was whining when Harry was chastising him for being late for something important, as the old dog was apparently trying to woo Veela twins.)
