I've read a fic where this was used as a plot device: The Young Adventurer's Club by Artemisgirl here on ffn. Everybody on the team donates blood multiple times (in multiple locations) before the adventure starts, using blood replenishing potions.

Is that why he came back? I thought it was because Voldemort acted as Harry's Horcrux, and that the Elder Wand would only work for it's current Master, not against (which means that the curse only "killed" the Horcrux in Harry's Scar, not Harry himself).

This makes infinitely more sense than canon. The blood protection should've protected Harry because that's simply what its job is. To protect. Otherwise it would be like saying the shielding charm wouldn't work against Voldemort because he has Harry's blood. And even if the protection did extend to Voldemort through Harry, it was HIS spell he cast, so the protection wouldn't have any reason to protect him from it. Especially since his intent was focused on someone else.
