Good chapter so far.

The Omaha Beach scene reminds me of "Saving Private Ryan", "The Longest Day" and "The Big Red One" (in case you're not familiar with it, Mark Hamill co-starred in it).

BTW, are Mike and his party 1st Division, 29th Division or Rangers? I'd vote for 1st Division, as there might be references, in future chapters, of them having seen combat in North Africa and Sicily.

The only historical quibbles are the appearance of the BF-109 (The Luftwaffe was almost totally neutralized on D-Day by the Allies complete air superiority. The only air attack that took place was carried out by Hans Priller, who -with a sole wingman- made a single strafing pass over Gold and Juno Beaches later in the morning with their FW-190's, before hightailing it back to base.) and the bit about Overlord being postponed numerous times. (It was postponed just once, from the 5th to the 6th of June.) Aside from that, it felt very detailed.

Looking forward to what's next.
