Despite some problems this story has a good beginning. Every time I come back I keep hoping that there is more to this story. This genre has a TREMENDOUS number of unfinished stories. There are a very small number of these incomplete stories that are surprisingly good. With only 2 chapters it's nearly impossible to guess how good the rest of this story might be. Please come back and finish your story.

First Clark is walking through a cornfield when, suddenly, it turns into a wheatfield. Just as suddenly it turns back into a cornfield. How? Just curious-do you know where Kansas is? A lot of people seem to have no clue as to its' location. Recently a YouTuber named "Adam the Woo" recorded a multi-state drive across the southern USA. He tried to avoid major roadways such as the Interstate Highways (he almost succeeded). He drove through a lot of small towns that are rapidly dying. 60 to 85 years ago these would have been very busy rural towns. Some of them no longer have gas stations or grocery stores. Yes, not all of them are quite that deserted but even those have empty stores. "Smallville" used to be depicted as a small rural town that was somewhat off the beaten path. Such a town today would be half-deserted. Smallville would be one of those towns.

Kansas is NOT a Southern state. It is right smack in the middle of the USA. What on Earth is "cattle corn soup?" I've never heard of such a thing.

Have you ever walked through a cornfield? I have. In an extremely good season and in a really good location with the proper amount of fertilizer and rain corn can grow 7-plus feet tall. In the middle of summer corn is still very green. Depending on the location corn might not start drying out until September or October. Corn (and maybe even wheat?) needs to be alternated every year with soybeans. In a bad season, one that is very hot and dry, corn will be stunted and dry out early. There will be a very low yield. This kind of background information is important if the writer wants the story to sound realistic.
