Reviews for The Mouseling
hengrimm chapter 1 . 8/20/2019
Oh what a glorious little story, told through the eyes of one of the many mice that chewed the ropes from Aslan that day, before the Stone Table was broken and He was alive again. A snapshot of the beginning of Talking Mice. I loved the little mouseling, and how he saw the world and the events around him. The line that struck me most was "The night was long, so long, so dark and so cold, but at last the gray of the sky began turning red and then gold." I also loved "The mouseling was, but yet - but yet-" I also loved the gratitude the Mouseling had for the One who made it.

A beautiful, sweet story befitting of Easter.

What a well-written, dramatic take on Aslan's death and rebirth. I think you added a lot to this scene by showing it through the little mouseling's eyes.

I loved the way Lewis’s books echoed through the story, word for word. And I love that you tied the good beginning to the resurrection, that Aslan continued to create good and magical creatures at the same time He is born to life again. I had never thought of that; thank you.
Ariyah chapter 1 . 4/22/2019
I don’t think I’ve seen a story about the first Talking Mice before. It’s funny how, in echoing Aslan’s words at the creation of Narnia, I’m made mindful of the concept of a “new creation”. It’s a simple thought but no less profound. Nicely done. :)

Wow! What a timely story for Easter!

The disciples were as helpless as field mice, most of them fleeing in terror and those who didn't could only give a decent burial to Jesus's dead body (Joseph of Arimathea, Nicodemus, and the women who prepared spices), just as the mice could do no more than chew away the cords binding Aslan.

But after the Resurrection...He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are 20:22). And on the Day of Pentecost, they began to speak in new languages (versus speaking at all for the mice). And where before they were running like field mice, afterwards they were brave and bold, even to death (like Talking Mice).

Thanks for the story and Happy Easter!
