Ask and one shall receive, I suppose. I generally enjoyed this continuation, though at this point you've used the dead S.T.A.R.S. theme often enough that it doesn't carry much impact here.

Rawlings doesn't come out particularly distinct, feeling a bit too much like a simple manifestation of Star's fears, but the countdown sequence is quite gripping. Star's anxiety and desperation builds convincingly through the simply excellent dialogue, and memory retrieval is one threat that I honestly did not see coming. Combined with the hypnosis element, it feels like a pretty fresh scenario, and certainly an intense one.

I enjoyed the analogy to dialup internet. Appropriate for the era of the original Resident Evil and, more importantly, it adds a vividness to what Aiken describes.

One typo that made it hard for me to be sure what was happening: "and gave him a hard."

Barry breaking up a fight was surprisingly amusing. Barry's such a tough guy, you can easily believe neither party would want to challenge his right to intervene. And I think you brought out his natural irritation with their behavior beautifully.

I feel like a dummy not noticing the "red man" thing earlier, haha.

Love the blurring of reality here. You don't know what's real and what isn't. Adds a new layer of mystery to the story. Can't wait to see more!

Though the direction of the plot feels increasingly less clear, you're really rocking it with the hallucinations. It makes me wish you were putting out chapters more quickly, or that I was getting to reading them more quickly.

I enjoyed the description of the coffin room - that sounds odd to say, even like I'm throwing a bone, but it's honestly true. More than that, though, I really got a kick out of Joseph's refusal to walk through the hall of corpses. Most especially the lines "I'm gonna take a little walk in the opposite direction!" and "Are they?!", but the entire dialogue is so note-for-note delightful that it adds up to more than any of the individual lines. Jill burning the corpses is an appreciated touch of realism, as well; I always like it when characters in horror stories show moments of cool-headedness and common sense.

It's satisfying that we already get the teased confrontation between Star and Lisa, even if it doesn't answer anything about why she's after him. The action sequence between them is very solid. The line "the strange yet tragic creature" made me chuckle a bit, because I'd just recently been reading about Godzilla 1985, and one review cites an almost identical line from that film ("this strangely innocent but tragic creature.'') as an old cliche. I'm wondering now if you meant that line as an homage.

A couple of confusing typos: "only to they have disappeared.", "before his eyes are ran through door".

The morphing of the main hall is an imaginative bit, not so much for the actual concept as for the details, which are unexpectedly vivid and visceral. The falling bodies one actually felt too purely visceral at first, until its twist ending. I kind of wish I was seeing more of a pattern to the hallucinations by this point, but that's certainly not to say that their unpredictability doesn't make them much more engrossing in the short term.

Still loving the interactions between Joseph and Regina (though it seems they may be done now). "Hopelessly in love!" is a hilariously inappropriate comeback, delightfully childish and forthright yet believable. The raptor rescue and the subsequent exchange between them is too sweet for words. Joseph may have a one-track mind but he's far from useless.

The additional time travelers seem a bit much on principle, but I got a good kick out of Joseph's reaction to Gelzer noting his ID says 1998, and the link to a Star lookalike is a nice bit of intrigue. Between that and the good bits of tension, plus the well-defined characters, it all turned out pretty good.

So, is Rebecca connecting "Redman" with Star now? Honestly, I thought of him when Lisa first said that, but it certainly could be coincidence. Anyway, it's interesting to think of what his connection with Lisa could be.

I love this! This is the best opening of a resident evil fan fic I think I ever read. I had no idea Jill was a criminal and Chris went into the airforce at 17. This is very inspiring for authors trying to figure out how to start their story and introduce the characters.

Interesting that you included WoF in this chapter. I'm intrigued to see how meeting him might possibly affect later events.
