Magic is still magic, for all that it often has commonalities with science in Buffy. That clumsy season involving the Initiative explicitly was built on that concept, which was brought up again with Spike. The thing is that the sheer timescale at which the Slayer operates at, the limitations they operate on for the vast majority of the time, the stakes at which they operate, and the sheer nature of random chance means that they're about as close as a true scientific proof of them being right. They are actually wrong, by the way, about the Slayer. Two components that makes their insufficient behavior get results, insufficient transit and finding the threat. It's entirely possible that identifying apocalyptic threats is an intractable problem, in spite of airplanes.

Nice story so far. I enjoy a good SG BTVS cross and you have the characters personalities down pat.
