Oh my goodness, I love this so much. It's perfect.

Some time ago I read an article in National Geographic about the the use of cadavers in the training of doctors. Such bodies were treated with the upmost respect by aspiring doctors. It featured a woman who donated her body for a new type of dissection and scanning - micrometer by micrometer - to develop a prototype for virtual dissections. In this month's Scientific American there was a brief article about such virtual dissections replacing actual ones. There are pros and cons to this but one driving factor is the expense and difficulty of getting cadavers.

This story brings in a much creepier conflict of interest. There might be a great deal to learn and people do legally donate their bodies to science, not to mention donating organs, but since all this is done in secret, they would not be able to publish what the learn.

You also bring up some other good points about Jack and Maddie letting their son continue his dangerous profession. Danny may have lived his last year as he wished; a half-ghost

This is so fucked up and such a perfect angst. The idea of them knowing and encouraging. Danny dying alone. His parents always wanting to do experiments and lowkey asking to where Danny felt obligated. I hate and love this. Where you at? I just wanna come talk.

This was seriously messed up. I have so many complicated feelings. This made me more emotional than a story where they actually do dissect him You managed to convey a lot of complicated emotions and motivations in few words. Great Job.
