Nice another story to never finish

This was a pretty fun, quick read. It's kind of a pity you've leaned so heavily on telling rather than showing your story. It feels like there's been four or five full stories in what you've done so far, but you've avoided delving into any of them. It feels as though you're summarizing to skip forward to some major plot, but honestly I don't know what it is.
I honestly don't know for sure who the protagonists really are, or what their motivations are. Sure, we know that Buffy et al are there, but we don't see enough of them, of their struggle, to see them as protagonists. Moreover, I don't know who the antagonists are supposed to be struggling against. Is it supposed to be the Batarians? They lost practically off screen. Was it supposed to be the demons? They supposedly mauled the fleet, but we didn't see it, and also lost off screen.
Also, what are these space demons supposed to be? Are they additions just made to make the BtVS universe fit Mass Effect?

Interesting beginning. My biggest nitpick is that your last line of the this first chapter is rather flagrant about telling rather than showing. Look forward to where this goes.
