Cute little story. I enjoyed reading it. The dynamic between these two wasn't nearly fleshed out enough and I was quite disappointed in that. This did a good job at attempting to alleviate that problem. Well done!
Your writing could use a little polish, however. You did really good, mind you. No run on sentences, good grammar and good punctuation for the most part. It just had a few missing words here and there a few other errors, nothing to really detract from the story proper.

That was so pure and heartwarming ! You pinpointed something right, with Varian having a hard time giving compliments. With his Dad (in season1) not giving them readily apparently, it's probably something that Varian is not accustomed to. How can you give sincere compliments when you never recieved any and were never taught ?
