Jaune canon semblence is Aura ampflication

Love the story can’t wait to see more, and nice take on the jaune and neo pairing.

Not to echo the words of other reviewers, but so far what Neo has been doing has exactly been 'bad', so far. She's crazy, no fucking doubt. She's obsessively devoted to him, has blatantly manipulated him for her gain, and is super open about her desires for that coveted mommy gf status, but that within itself doesn't actually make her a negative influence, and I can prove it.

The last lines of this chapter make something very clear. Neo doesn't think Jaune needs her in order to become better, she just thinks he'll be better off because of her. That a very important detail, because it reveals quite literally that Neo isn't so self-centered to think she is Jaune's universe or whatever. She just wants to be, like any girlfriend in the budding stages of a relationship.

More importantly, her feelings aren't wrong either.. Whilst Jaune feel that same about it, Neo has given a stable life to get back on his feet from, proudly trains him in exactly what he dreamed of becoming, and gives him the kind of support his family supposedly never gave him (according to cannon and most fanfiction). Neo is the only person that believes Jaune can make a difference, and ironically, it's Jaune that's still keeping that from becoming a reality.

To try and summarize this as simply as I can, the Jaune you have portrayed is still suffering from his fuck up with Beacon and the words Roman told him about it. Jaune feels he's worthless, and Neo accidentally makes this worse by supporting him. Because he already didn't have much self-worth, to begin with, and Neo support didn't come naturally, he can't wrap his head around why she supports him and in turn transforms that support into anxiety and couples with the depressive episode he's going through in a nasty way.

The result of Neo's actions, so far, have been guiltless. What Jaune's thinking and feeling come down to that fact he's willing to accept his failure in the most angst way possible but refuses to accept that someone is going through a lot of effort to see him overcome it. In a way, he's the abusive one. He takes Neo support for granted, whilst Neo has done nothing more than demand affection in return. That could certainly turn unhealthy, but right now Jaune's mind it messed up for me to see his emotions as earnest. On one end the drugs are fucking with his head, and on the other depression and anxiety are tainting any emotions he's feeling, which ends up making Neo come off as a victim of this vicious combo.

The real tragedy is Neo hasn't done anything to perpetuate Jaune's autopilot...

...He's doing it to himself.

On that note, super looking forward to the next chapter. It's a really interesting story, and my only real critique is that the weed buddies take too much of the center stage for my liking. We need some change, maybe some new characters to introduce, or for Jaune to finally break the cycle and start taking steps to be the change both he and Neo want of him. The real conflict beings if Jaune's idea of making a difference doesn't align with Neo's. Part of me wants that, the other part of me is just happy seeing Jaune overcome his bullshit with the help of his crazy, loli, mute, psychopathic, mommy gf named Neo.

Hey, what's up. This fanfic is a blast and awesome to read, but I have got to ask.

Because, from what I can see, Jaune is having a normal everyday life in an average job with two laidback friends and a psycho icecream mommy gf.

Shit HAS to hit the fan soon, to get this Jaune into gear. Its only a matter of time before the main plot, in some way, gets him involved.

The thing about 'living life on autopilot' is that it's..boring. It's not even Slice of Life here, because there's a whole lot of words and not a lot being said/done in them. This Jaune is basically a druggy. Doesn't matter that it's only marijuana and it's legal in most places nowadays (as a Canadian it's just plain legal, so I get it), but doing it every day is the same as an alcoholic drinking every day because they don't know anything else.

This Jaune is boring. Yes, canon Jaune isn't that much better, especially with the writing in the later seasons. His 'friends' are encouraging self-destruction and while you're *saying* that Neo is worse, she's the only one encouraging him to actually DO anything with himself, even if it benefits her.

I initially decided to follow this because it was an interesting idea of what could happen had Jaune been rejected without going down the Coer route, but your Vale-city/New York City analogue only goes so far, and half the problem with RWBY as it is nowadays is that it's forgotten what it's supposed to be (and the characters have turned into caricatures of themselves, but that's neither here nor there).

This is a universe where literal man-eating creatures of pure darkness roam the world, and the problems should reflect that much more than they do. Here we've got an idiot who wanted to be a hero (but never put in any work to that effect) and upon being given the chance to improve himself, complains about it and just does weed all day. We're almost forty thousand words into this and we've seen no benefits from his aura or training, even though he's improved himself to be 'better than nothing' to paraphrase Roman. Yes insecurities are a part of life, yes complacency is a thing that happens, but when you yourself admit to having little to no experience with the drug life, it feels bad having so much time devoted to Jaune 'tripping out,' especially when his sugar-mama has all but told him she doesn't approve (which, considering Jaune's self-esteem issues, he SHOULD take a lot more seriously, since without her he would be LESS than nothing).

I'll continue to see how this goes, but you really need a wider range of supporting characters. The two OCs seem out of place when you consider how wide the character set is in RWBY, but then Miltia and Melanie would have beat him into shape rather than allow him to coast along, so I can understand why you chose to do that, but not why you did it.

The writing has been very well done, with solid spelling and formatting, so I don't want to seem like I'm just complaining about everything. The premise is solid and I really can't wait to see things pick up the pace, so I hope you continue working on this. Regardless of what happens going forward, good work and I hope you keep enjoying writing, because that's the most important thing.

Okay first of amazing work,ilove Jaune and Neo in so that it so doesnt work that it does. Your take on it is refreshing and tbh i dont have a single complaint excellent job. Now be prepared for the essay i cant help but write as you have me deeply invested im the two.

See i dont see it as manipulation, at least not anymore. I feel like her want has moved past entertainment and is slowly going from obsessive infatuation to true feelings, and the thought that they may not be returned makes her feel undesirable and unlovable. Sure she knows shes beautiful but currently she is experiencing these new feelings and the fact be isnt reacting the same scares her.

It seems to me at this point the relationship is becoming more and more co dependent. As much as jaune needs neo in the obvious way shown throughout the last few chapters, ibelieve she also truely needs Jaune just as much in a less obvious manner, and not just in a crazy way, just like a normal youmg woman who wants to feel cherished and loved.
Again amazing story cant wait for more.

Water is not wet, and Neo is still best girl. I think you've done an amazing job at showing internal struggles, you seem to understand this and portray it in a way that's much better than most people. Better than Coeur in my opinion, at least in the internal struggle department. I very much enjoy this, can't wait for next chapter.

Hmm I am really liking this as pretty much no one is the cast is normal by any means everyone has some flaws be mental instability or just being kinda stupid it’s nice to see character flaw used well

Ah codependence the foundation of long term relationships Knowing that you need each other Emotionally is important this is a big step In a relationship it keeps you from taking each-other for granted. Being an island onto yourself or seeing your significant other as not needing you is unhealthy for all involved.

I think this author might have a sweat and grim fetish (no shame tho)
