Let me preface this by saying I’m not trying to be a dick and flame your story, I’m only really focusing on the a/n at the end of the last chapter. I wish the best of luck to you and your future ventures but I’m gonna call things like I see them.

I just stumbled across this story and I became curious as to why it was ending and your reasons (excuses) for why you’re canceling the story and I’m sorry bro, but it just reads like you’re trying to shift the blame from your own shortcomings as an author. It’s not High School DxD’s fault that you didn’t have the creativity and/or imagination to make your concept work nor is it Issei’s character Instead of wasting your (and the audience’s time) bashing Issei, you could very easily just slightly change his personality so that he could be more likeable and more appealing as a character, he doesn’t need to act exactly like his canon self, you’re writing fan fiction what-if, not a canon novelization. Character bashing is one of the laziest ways to utilize a character. I don’t care about your opinion of Issei or Dxd, I’m just saying there are ways to get around the pitfalls you bring up. As for the whole “it’s a lose-lose situation, the way to win is to not play”, again that’s your problem. I’ve seen numerous dxd fanfics do the things you mention and while not perfect, they had good executions because they were able to work around the flaws and make something engaging. I understand this is your story but that doesn’t mean you get to make a bunch of excuses as to why you couldn’t make the concepts in them work. Again, I’m not trying to be an asshole and completely tear you down and I honestly want the best for you man, but making excuses as to why you couldn’t pull this idea off is not how you improve, it just comes across as incredibly lazy and whiny. You’re better than that bro

I feel as if you managed to capture almost exactly what a rias basher would love or a no resurrection through evil pieces would love. Whilst its not the best Crossover ever, you took a great idea and went with it. Good Work

I am sad to see this story go, but I can understand the reasons. I genuinely despise Issei as a character as well. Joker is the leader of the Phantom Thieves, and a true gentleman. Issei is the sludge in a dumpster on a rainy day after said dumpster was set on fire...Maybe that was not quite harsh enough of a description, but you get the picture (hopefully) In the end, I am sad to see the story go. I felt it had potential, but in the end, it's not my choice to make. Good luck in future fics!

Shame for a work-in-progress to prematurely end, but given that it's "High School DxD", I can't really fault you for it. Here's hoping that the next time someone does a "High School DxD & Persona Series" Crossover, they won't be afraid of breaking the mould of canon - because FUCK Kuoh Town, am I right? (I think another reviewer mentioned that you could make the main cast as a cameo, skipping needless plot in the process...)

You know, this would have been an interesting plot to follow - Akira's course of action in following this could have drawn the attention of Kuroka, given her personal history, and maybe Diodora Astaroth's 'Slave Peerage' (this one is a matter of how far they are 'gone')...

There could also be even a 'ripple effect' and a supernatural-political 'fallout' with the collapse of the Evil Pieces system - to make a 'video game comparison', it could be like Jacob's assassinations causing unintended consequences (and his sister, Evie, having to solve them) in "Assassin's Creed Syndicate".

Yeah I can really understand where you are coming from. Though maybe an idea you could try is to not have them go to kuoh and have the PT come into contact with the supernatural world elsewhere. Maybe they come into conflict with the hero faction while s1 of dxd is going on. Maybe they work to change the hearts of supernatural being, or maybe have them get rid of the corruption within the church that is heavily hinted at in the series? There is a lot that could be done with this world if one were to just not put them in Kuoh. I think that really is the trap. Have the main dxd characters be in cameos during big events that would make sense for them to be at and not forced in. These are just ideas though.

shame that this is cancelled, i fully understand you with making issei irrelevant he is really unlikeable, i had a few ideas for a DXD fanfic myself but i really didnt want to deal with people whining about Issei being removed from the story, so i never put it properly to text. Respect that you atleast tried it.

Issei isn't someone you can bash. He doesn't really harm anyone. He's the equivalent of a small town drunk or something that everyone knows and has met. And when he dies there a little void that can't be filled. That and it's an ecchi or hentai world. Perverts basically populate the planet.

You know if you want a fanfic which the MC didn't get reincarnated into a devil, I recommend you to try reading "Magical Trickster DXD ReBorn" by SocialistBukharin a rework of "Magical Trickster DxD" where the MC try to stay away from the main story.

Plus the author, who I mention before, wrote other amazing stories like: "Fate: True Bizarre" a JJBA and Fate/Zero crossover.

This might help you to get some idea or inspiration in the future.

Well seeing that number 2... The protag doesn't have have to help them 24/7 as long as they aren't a devil that is, that sort of choice is dependant on how you would want the relationship between the MC and the Devils.
Honestly I'm not sure what kind of plot you'd be able to do though if you keep trying to avoid them though. They do seem to have most of the plot around them anyways. So it would be hard unless you can make up new things to let happen in the fic.
And another thing... well it's hard to be original but, we'll be fine with you copying other plots as long as you do it well most likely.
So it doesn't matter too much how many other stories do the same thing, the big difference is whether or not it's done well.

Though the plot of this would have been certainly a bit of a mystery due to your changes, a bit of a shame to not see it.
Hope your will isn't broken again on your next stories.

Good thing that you at least ended things on a really high note for our dynamic duo, Akira and Lavenza - the future may be uncertain for our former 'Phantom Thieves of Hearts' and the cast of "High School DxD", but with the true power of the World Arcana awakened within 'He Who Will Save The Souls of Humanity'... I think they'll be ready for whatever comes their way!

Poor Rias... to me, a Devil (no matter how 'powerful' they are through their bloodlines, Bael's especially) asking an 'Avatar of POWER' to be subservient to them via the Evil Pieces and Peerage System... well, that's like a human mortal commanding the Icon of Sin from "DOOM Eternal" to bow to the former (you can imagine how 'well' THAT will go...)

Power of Destruction is not to be underestimated, especially when mastered by Sirzechs Lucifer - complete annihilation without trace, can cut down even the consciousness and souls of living creatures (according to Grendel, anyway) and so on (just magical disintegration, now that I think about it)... BUT! Compared to the various and versatile skills and spells of the Megami Tensei universe and the power of BELIEF (comparable to "Planescape: Torment"), then Lavenza and the Velvet Room Attendants have this one in the bag! The world's their bitch when they hold absolute dominion over creation and destruction itself!]

Alternatively... there's always writing it in 'anthology' format - kind of like "Minato x Ophis Snippets" By: Angel of Light Darkness. I think it's a 'good' way to move the 'plot' while giving zero fucks about 'canon'.

Hoo boy. That was a good explanation. I myself hate Issei for being a pervert. I would 10/10 bash him. Don't listen to nobody, and just continue what you do. A common message, told to me hundreds of times already. Yet, I seem to forget that message. Might sound hypocritical, but follow the message. No hate here. I have to agree, Issei is a fucking horrid character. Not in a writing sense, but just as a person. People give him a lot of leeway because it's "just an anime" or such, but it still doesn't change that I wouldn't be able to stand him as a legitimate person.

Imagine a scene where Issei acted like that with Ann. Just, imagine it. Just his canon attitude, no exaggeration. No nothing.

I would pay real money to have a short story written where the DxD crew meets the Persona 5 crew and it's all hunky-dory, then Issei just completely ruins it by acting like his usual self with Ann. Like, straight ruins it beyond all shred of hope as Joker goes nuclear.
