I do like how you start the chapter with Rayla’s mom having doubts about whether she and Lain joining the Dragon Guard was worth it. It totally would make sense for a person in her shoes to have a lot of doubts on decisions she made leading up to her being imprisoned in a coin. I do like how Rayla gently but firmly makes sure that her mom understands that Rayla will not stand for the man she loves, be disrespected by anyone including her parents. I do like the scene where Rayla explains to her mom why she unconditionally loves Cal. I am not surprised that Rayla initially glosses over how she defeated Viren, considering what her parents would most likely react to it.
Queen Z does know how to repay Lain and Tiadrin for staying loyal to their duty and saving A. interesting when talking about forces that are fighting the elves are not led by Viren but Aaravos. It’s does not surprise me, since in the end of season 3, it seems to me that from here on slowly Aaravos will become the main “bad guy” and less and less Viren.
I do like the heart-warming scene where Rayla’s parents are finally reunited. I do like the banter between Cal and Rayla at the end of the chapter, especially where Cal spur of the moment reenacts his first meeting with Rayla pleading for his life. I do like how Cal remarks that Rayla’s family seems to have a habit of trying to kill him and then coming to like him.
Great job PalmierSama until I looked at your profile, I did not know that English was not your native langue but instead that French is. You wrote this story as the end of chapter 3 well enough that I had no reason to think that English is 2nd langue that you know. Keep the great work PalmierSama, till next time!

I do like how with Rayla wrestling with the fact that she came to terms that her parents died staying true to their oaths. Now she will get her parents back, she will have to deal with them getting reacquainted with a radically different state of the world from when they were first imprisoned. Also how are her parents going to react to Cal being Rayla’s boyfriend and the man who will almost certainly will in the future will marry her. I do like how you end the fist section with Rayla comforting herself with that no mater what happens she will have Cal at her side to be her light/rock that she can draw strength from.
I do like the 2nd section is from Tiadrin POV, you did a great job with showing her panic after coming back from a traumatic experience. I do like how Rayla easies in her mother with Cal saying he’s her companion and not boyfriend. Then while explaining all what has happened since they were put into the coin, Rayla slowly eases in that Cal is her lover.
If Lain was one of the better reactions to being freed from coins by a human mage by almost killing him; I am afraid what most of the other elves tried to do to Cal. I guess this is a example of no good deed goes unpunished. Tiadrin did a far better less violent reaction than her husband did when seeing Cal but that is not surprising since she was the smarter and was the person suggested to Viren to us the Dragon Prince egg for a dark magic use instead of just destroying the egg. I do like that scene where Cal tells Rayla’s dad not to tell her the strain of using 2 different primal sources. I think you did a good job with both of Rayla’s parents with what little we know of them. Keep the great work PalmierSama, till next time!

I personally do think it would take more than 3 years for Cal to master all 6 primal magic sources but its your story. While he discovers a way for primal magic to free the trapped elves from the coins. Personally, I think that in canon it will require dark magic to undo the enchantment. In season 2 Cal broke his personal oath that he would never use dark magic. Why Cal did it? He did it for Rayla, it was at the time the only way he could save Rayla’s life from almost certain death. She would most likely die because she would refuse to leave the downed dragon despite by herself she would be eventually overwhelmed by the human forces.
It would a great test for Cal, would he once again use dark magic if it means that Rayla can be reunited with her parents? Especially if there is no other way to do it with primal magic that he and allied elves knows of. Would he choice to keep to his personal morals or once again sacrifice it for his best friend and now the woman that he loves more than life itself.
I do agree that Sunfire elves would probably know the most about enchanting magical coins and other metal working. I am not surprised that you have Janni and Amaya getting married, since at the end of season 3 its strongly implied that both of them are romantically attracted to each other.
I do love how you start the sectioned half of the chapter with Cal assuming that the weather around the Spire would be like most of the time. that being sunny but instead is raining. I do like how Rayla that Cal knocking on her door then entering defeats most of the purpose of doing that. But it does still does have a point of alerting Rayla that someone is coming into her place openly and not trying to sneak in. Which as a expert in stealth infiltration and amazing hearing would hear him coming in the door, even if he tried to be stealth. Which may cause her to go into security mode if she does notice the exact sound that Cal makes when walking on what ever the floor is made up of.
I do like how Rayla insists on that he dries himself before she will give him a hug or any other physical sign of affection. I do like the heart warming scene where Cal is finally able to get close to Rayla after he finally dries himself off and puts on dry cloths. You did a great job of making sure that Rayla and Cals banter was like it is by the end of the 3rd season but with 3 years to expand upon it. I do like how you end the chapter with the heart warming scene where Rayla finds out Cal has finally figured out a safe way for him to free Rayla’s parents. Its good that Tiadrin and Lain seem to be adapting to their new circumstances. The report about Avaros' forces attacking from the north is worrisome. I'll look forward to finding out more as your story progresses.

Glad to see both Rayla's parents are freed. It seems they will have a lot to catch up in, now. I wonder what the Dragon Queen wants to talk about? I'll be looking forward to your next update.

I’m pretty sure there’s less than a year between the death of avizandum the start of the series because the narration says ‘last winter’ when they talk about his death so yeah.

Well done on your first chapter… I hope. Grieving ended at a cliffhanger of sorts. I love a good cliffhanger. Anyway you’re a pretty good writer. Keep up the good work.
