I loved everything about this. I find Itachi completely heartbreaking actually, but this definitely ended with a feeling of hope. Thanks for posting.

You know... I've been a long time reader of your works. I had been a teenager when I started reading your stories, and now I'm in my early 20's. And it is only in recent years that I've realized and internalized how much of a tragedy Itachi's life had been. In the middle of reading this story halfway, I got choked up. Especially during the part where he sells fruit for a living.

It's as if we could only hope that Itachi could've somehow made it out of the battle between him and Sasuke alive. And that he could've led a normal life... or as normal as he could afford to have. This really hit home, this fic. I'm so happy that he got a second chance. I usually read any Itachi fics I could get my hands on. But I have a very tender spot for canon and/or post-massacre fics. I just need to know how he was able to cope with his daily life knowing that he's just waiting for the time Sasuke is capable of "killing" him, and then he could finally rest. This breaks my heart.

But thank you for writing this story. I still am on the lookout for more of your stories, and I'm slightly wishing for a sequel on this... but I'm okay if this is the ending.
