Amidst all the turmoil I temporarily forgot that it was still Christmas day! To go from utter euphoria to utter dispair so quickly, their heads must be spinning. Not sure if Jules will be able to stick around given his wife's views on Erik but even if he does, to say it's going to be a bumpy ride is a massve understatement

Christine really will see Erik at his worst so If they can get through this they can get through anything!
I just hope that Erik can keep focus on why he is doing this when he is in the grips of withdrawal.

Read this again and am crying with Erik. He sounds so pitiful in those last few lines. Christine needs to give him a chance to go through the withdrawal and support him. He gave her a home, job and friendship that led to other friendships when she got kicked out by Eloise and had no one. I understand her being nervous about what happened to her dad and with the baby. Please let them work this out very soon. He just wants love like everyone else.

Well, *that* devolved rather abruptly. I've been waiting all story for real conflict (actually had been expecting it to be between Erik and the de Chagnys) but . . . wow.

Definitely did *not* expect Christine to react so violently to Erik's admission. (And he didn't even *get* to his stint as the Shah's assassin. ;D)

Perhaps it was inappropriate, but I was quite amused by Christine's picture of all three of them crying at the same time.

With all the shouting, screaming, and crying in Erik's apartment since Christine moved in, it's a wonder the tenants below them don't pound on their ceiling for quiet. (;P) Lol!

I am not sure Christine knows that withdrawal can be as dangerous as an overdose. And I'm quite sure she doesn't know what it is like to witness a man in withdrawal.

I'm crying with Erik, Christine, and Gustave. Please let them work through this. For as sad as the ending was, I'm glad she knows and hopefully they will work through it. He was at least honest with her. Then they could get married before Raoul Raoul accidentally bumps into her somewhere. I'm just scared he's going to try and take baby Gustave. But Erik will do whatever to keep her safe and loved. Cant wait for next update! Great job on ch. 40.
