I feel really weird about this fic. It's pretty good, but it honestly feels like you wrote the entire piece just so you could get the twist ending that plays on people's expectations. You gave Gold/Ethan his first 2 Adventures Pokemon to increase the impact of the theft and it feels like that's everything that you had.

It's just very much not a new concept for you as a writer. Radiant Nights has 2 equally well written origin stories where you play on the reader's expectations in the same way with Neji and Sasuke. I'm not entirely sure why but this story just doesn't hit in the same way as some of the others that you've written.

We'll see in the next chapter I suppose. Good luck and I'm looking forward to the next chapter either way!

Oh interesting, I wasn't expecting Exbo to be the one stolen. I'm guessing Gold will be taking Totodial then and trying to get it back in the future.

Then again it would mean Gold has type advantage over Silver and I'm not sure if that's aloud.

Pokemon Olympics is an equivalent idea to that of a Pokémon game where types don’t matter (Pokémon Unite). The goofiest part of all is that a kid wants to grow up to do that. I’m trying to imagine Mewtwo or Darkrai doing gymnastics and it just seems really ridiculous. Happy to see the olympics was more of a plot device than not having any battles. Also- no Treecko love?

YO! great to see a new story from you! First chapter kicked ass! I assume the lovely shout out to Lamora's TGoC style is intentional, and it made me super happy. That was without a doubt my favourite pokemon fanfic, and top 10 across all fandom, and I was crushed when he 86ed it.
Here's to this one not falling short! Don't know yet how I feel about poke-lympics instead of battling, but you are a heck of a writer, so I have faith.
I think I'm gonna start paying attention to the dlp WbA again.
