Reviews for A Dying Wind, a Dying Heart
Dixie Cross chapter 13 . 5h
I never intend in the beginning to go as far as I end up going in my stories. Haha. Very pretty and esoteric.
Guest chapter 13 . 7/31
Looks like Scarlett is repeating Rhett’s mistakes. Hiding her pain behind sarcasm and violence. Thankfully Rhett recognises the pattern, doesn’t buy it, and doesn’t react the way Scarlett did. He sees her suffering and unlike her he’s not the one to kick a person who is down. He is a good guy after all.
That was beautifully written. I only wish you wouldn’t stop it here. There’s never enough of these two. Thank you.
Rowanberry L chapter 13 . 7/31
Beautiful ending. Thanks you.
Guest chapter 13 . 7/31
Lovely! I agree that there is hope for these two, and that Melly’s final words to Scarlett about Rhett’s love served as a catalyst for their reconciliation. I think that Scarlett’s realization came at a crucial moment - right before Rhett was preparing to leave her. What if she hadn’t realized her love at that moment, or made her declaration? Rhett would have left - for good. Despite his cool reception, I think her words would stick with him. I think he still wants to be loved, and I don’t think he could resist returning to her (hence his claim to return periodically?). I love the idea that Melanie saved Rhett and Scarlett - her final act of love.
Truckee Gal chapter 13 . 7/31
“A dying wind, a dying heart” ... but now they are no longer apart.
Raven954 chapter 13 . 7/30
Just beautiful. You write like a painter. Sigh...
Gemma98 chapter 13 . 7/30
I would absolutely agree with you, that the awful nature of the main characters probably increases a more hopeful outcome. Two people who bring out both the best and the worst of one another.

This is a a great conclusion to this story. I'm always a fan of seeing a little love expressed between the two of them more overtly if there's to be a reunion, but this worked for me. Rhett was the hold out to trying again, and it appears he's beaten his demons and will stay and work things out. This is one of the few stories that has ever left me feeling sorry for both of them, in pretty equal measure. Masterful work!
Aethelfraed chapter 13 . 7/30
Well that was simply lovely.
rhett's love chapter 13 . 7/30
I am so glad that you are continuing this story. It is so moving and i am waiting anxiously for the next chapter. I hope with all of my heart that they can get back together. They love each other in their own weird way.
Guest chapter 13 . 7/30
I love this... one more chapter please.. tell us did they have more kids etc etc
christag chapter 12 . 7/29
So maybe Rhett still cares after all. Scarlett is growing that's for certain but just how damaged is she? How much damage has Rhett done and can it be repaired? Time will tell. They both have a lot of apologizing and forgiving to do. I really do like what you have done so far with this story. Looking forward to your next update.
Truckee Gal chapter 12 . 7/28
Me thinks the “someone” rolling Scarlett onto her side was Rhett loosening her laces so she can breathe easy.
Scarlett is about seventeen years younger than Rhett, which was a big factor in their earlier relationship. The life experience gap narrows as she matured. Makes me wonder if Rhett finds Charleston women sufficiently challenging to keep his attention? Might he be interested in spending time getting to know Scarlett again?
romabeachgirl chapter 12 . 7/28
At this point, millions of people have debated Scarlett and Rhett's outcome for 84 years, and I don't think we will ever have consensus. Your characters seem to feel the same ambiguity about their fate (Scarlett more than Rhett) as you do. I'm always rooting for a happy ending even though the book's impact might have decreased if Scarlett and Rhett had experienced a happy ending. Who knows? I'm looking forward to seeing which direction you decide to pursue.
Gemma96 chapter 12 . 7/27
I can completely see Rhett being kind to Scarlett this way after he has had time away from her to reflect and put things in perspective. I do think they’re both suffering from a trauma respond to all they’ve seen throughout the war. I also believe they love each other still, which is surprising for as I’m a pretty hard headed realist. ( like you, I have no idea why I’m so drawn in by GWTW. I don’t normally read romances!) I think at this juncture it behooves Rhett to out an end to the biting comments Scarlett makes and tell her to dig deeper and express her real feelings instead of rattling off a sarcastic remark. They may have a chance to at least get along if the warring words would just stop. Thanks for another great chapter!
Scarlett chapter 1 . 7/27
When Ratt left Atlanta he was broken to pieces, he needed time alone to deal with the grief and get back to himself.
He's afraid Scarlett will run to Ashley.
Fear of her rejection.
If it was years before he overcame his personal crisis, then he was afraid to return, afraid of what he would find when he returned ...
So he chose not to do anything.
And now? Now Scarlett is here, in front of him, and he is not indifferent to her, and he owes himself and her to do an act. Either close the past or get closer to her, open his heart to her face and let her decide
