JediGaladriel chapter 1 . 5/2/2012
This was so good! That was so sweet of Obi-wan! Please do a sequel where they get rescued! You can't leave it like that! I need my happy ending! Please?

There are really not enough stories that address the trauma Anakin must have gone through as a slave. Even if Watto was a kind master the emotional and mental damage would have been...unbelievable and the consequences, as seen by ROTS, catastrophic.

That being said, I love this story because of the way that you portray both Anakin AND Obi-wan. I often wonder if Obi-Wan GOT it, or if he understood what exactly Anakin went through. I like how in this story he gets it, even for a little while.

Man. This is beautiful. To me, what really changed this story from just a good read to thought-provoking was the tie-in about the blanket. The character development there is great - Anakin actually being selfless for once. In a way. xD

Thanks for writing this. :)

You have this way of making every one of your stories so real, and painful and wonderful all at once! This was, like all of your stories, a pleasure to read.

That was lovely. Amazingly touching while capturing their characters. Anakin, I don't think, will ever understand Obi-Wan's position. I feel that Jedi have a much more difficult life than most others. It's true that slaves must deal with physical labour and harsh environments, but they know what is expected of them and over time learn to accept their place. I'm not saying it's right or that it should be accepted, just that it is. Jedi on the other hand, have to learn to be smart and faster. Life is full of turmoil that they must face and attempt to conquer. Their lives constantly in danger and for no other reason than for the sake of others. Their life is not their own. The exist solely to help others overcome obsticles and better their lives. They must face war and death and hopelessness and still persevere so that it can no longer afflict those troubled by them. And of all the times they manage to do good, their worst fears are failing. Having to face the times when they did everything they could possibly do and end up not changing a thing.

That is what Obi did. He knew he couldn't change their situation. That they faced gruelling work to no avail, only hoping that rescue or escape were possible. And if he could do nothing more than save his apprentice a single day's work, he would gladly do so without hesitation. And that fact is what will ALWAYS seperate Anakin and Obi-Wan. Anakin might get glimpses of such selflessness, but his own well being has always prevailed. Obi has always placed himself last in the heirarchy, knowing that his life was forfeit to the greater good.

Like I said, wonderful! Thanks for sharing. ;)
