A good story. Good desciptions and monologue.
Intrigued chapter 3 . 12/31/2010
That was absolutely exquisite writing. Not overdone in the slightest, which is always the test of more emotional stories. On a lighter note, you have more than satisfied my recent fix for quality Faramir fics. Now I'm going to check to see if you have any more of these...
tansy1354 chapter 3 . 11/25/2010
I could just imagine this scenario taking place it was so insightful and real.

The brothers are skilfully drawn and their words and deeds so much like you would expect. Denethor was a little surprising but quite feasible that he may react that way.

It paints an intricate picture of what battles are and how it affects not only the soldiers but those who wait for them.

My favourite line is,"You are a soldier born, and I a soldier made, and our duty must always be to Gondor first, until the day that Mordor is defeated."

This story provides a wonderful background to Boromir's actions in the Fellowship of the Ring and goes a long way towards taking away the weak willed persona that I certainly asscociate with him.

Keep up the excellent work.

Syntyche chapter 3 . 2/7/2010
This story was sad, poignant, and bittersweet all at once. Excellent, excellent work on capturing the love between the brothers and the heartache they carry. Thank you so much for posting this story!
Nostalgia-in-Starlight chapter 3 . 10/20/2009
Wow. This was a very, very touching story. Even more so, as a reader knowing the end of the Hurin brothers' journey. You did an amazing job with writing this. I ask over and over, "how could there be such love between brothers?" It is a mystery that I shall gladly ponder for the rest of my life.
Awen1923 chapter 3 . 10/27/2006
Great story/ It was very well written. I loved the interaction between the brothers-it was very moving.
Deandra chapter 3 . 8/18/2006
Excellent study of young men truly coming to terms with war, and their role in it, especially with regard to their loved ones. And a nice study in Faramir's character - his dedication to his country even when it isn't his preference to march to war.

Well done!

Neoinean chapter 3 . 7/13/2006
This has to be, without a doubt, the best sons of the steward fic I've ever read. You capture both of them so perfectly, their emotions and motivations; you give them both depth and-to be frank-angst, with elegance and aplomb. This is how I always pictured the brothers' relationship and I'm so glad to find that someone else shares my views-and can write it better than anything I could offer. As soon as this cursed site lets me login, I'm adding this to my favorites.
riduculouslyriddikulus chapter 3 . 11/10/2005

That was lovely! The brothers are truly in character here, and I love the warm, humorous conversation they have nearing the end. Charming!

Keep writing!

Eladriewen chapter 1 . 7/18/2004
Very nice. You repeated yourself a bit it seems during certain portions. Grief can only be dragged out so long before it gets repetitive like that.

Still, very nicely done, and Boromir's letter made me laugh.

Great job!
