I'm laughing because of how canon this all is.
Tifa trying to get Cloud back in AC? Check.
Cloud just wandering around fighting monsters, and generally brooding about not being able to save Aerith? Check.
Everyone dropping whatever they are doing to help with the new threat, in AC and DOC? Check.
Reeve being the president of the newly formed Shinra replacement, WRO? Check. Sending the robotic cat? Check.
Secret army that was part of Shinra that are super powerful in DOC? Check.
Sephiroth or "mother" worshipper that has some history with members of Avalanche? Also known as the remnants that has a beef with Cloud? Check.
Intensive backstory about Vincent and his love in DOC? Check.
Aeris appearing from the livestream in AC? Check.
Tifa getting owned by one of the remnants because of plot device? (Yes she did fight, but that was quite obviously going to end with Tifa losing, you know) Check.
Kidnapping? ... Not exactly Tifa, but still, kidnapping children like Denzel is close enough (AC). Check.
Turks cooperating with AVALANCHE in AC? Check.

Etc. etc. I can make a whole list of them.

Awww…it's been nearly ten years, so I guess this fic won't be finished. Too bad. This was some pretty great stuff if you ask me.

That whole blowtorch thing, ew... wait... Oh! She melted the ice around his heart! And they'll go out for coffee later, in between cliche plot lines. Har har har!

Arm warmers... Monopoly money... Bwahahaha! The Brief Interlude actually reminded me of my husband's nephew - every conversation is somehow about his depressingness. BTW, I've only encountered the "bondage Vincent" in yaoi fiction, so you shouldn't have to worry about it with Tifa!

Well, this is great already! Cliches, illogic, and transparent plot contrivances make me itch, too. I'll catch some more tomorrow night.

Reading this immediately made me realize why I hated reading the fan-fic "All But One" just a month or so back. You can tell by reading this passage:

"Apparently, it was some unstoppable brigand of well-trained assassins or something like that, who had been operating underground for years upon years and were known and feared throughout the world, even though there had never been so much as a mention of them in the whole continuity of the Final Fantasy 7 realm.

And they had their sights set on AVALANCHE. Just to prove they were superior, or because they had worshipped Sephiroth, or been part of Shinra or something. And of course, a couple of them were bound to have some sort of history with a few AVALANCHE members. Like one had trained under Zangan and wanted to beat up on Tifa because she upstaged him some years back, or one had been a former Turk with Vincent. Or they were someone's ex-spouse, or even an AVALANCHE member that was thought to have been killed in the Sector Seven Pillar collapse."

I laughed my ass off.

Excellent work so far... even though this story obviously abuses other authors rather than the medium/source material of the game.

I'm not gonna pretend that some parts of this story aren't painfully stupid and random, but I know that's what you're going for, so it's okay. Seriously, though... the story is still making me laugh out loud. Especially the pointless Shasta thing... classic.

Anyways, keep it up, it's funny.

Ookaay... While I really enjoyed the whole concept of the Cliche busting... WHAT THE F! Then again, I'm so violently opposed to OOCness and over the top fluff that I generally avoid them like the plague and have no clue where half of that came from. Evil Tifa? Never seen it. Examples please; so I can add them to my dead journal list of horrifying fanfics. (Tifa/vinny, Yuffie/ vinnie, and above all, the one you DIDN'T cover, Aerith/ Sephiroth... GAG, HURL!)

I can't believe I never found this sooner! I always wondered why no one did something like this! It's absolutely beautiful! Especially the language insertions. The only time those can be even slightly tolerable are in FFX fanfic, using Al Behd. Even then they're annoying as hell.

'Jim-Jam' and 'Greg' are based off of Montana and Fa-Li in 'Sink to the Bottom With You,' arent they?

OMG I laughed so hard reading this! I mean, normally I don't even venture into the Final Fantasy VII category that often, but I recognize these cliches! I mean, they're in every category, really. And you do just fine at being funny without being offensive-we've all fallen into a couple of these, but we all know the really terrible stories that fall into ALL of them! ;p They're funny in their own way . . .they just don't *mean* to be. Like B-Rated movies.
