Reviews for Killer
Deeanna1973 chapter 1 . 8/17/2016
I'm a bad girl! I have read and enjoyed this story at least a dozen times, and it occurred to me that I never posted a review! So I decided to change that.

I absolutely loved this novelization of the pilot episode! I was a huge fan of this series, and you have the characters' personalities down perfectly. You captured so well how the team went from being five virtual strangers to a cohesive unit. This was one of the stories that inspired me to write my own M:I fan fic. I'd love to see more from you, either here or in the group. Bravo!
Bithiah chapter 1 . 6/28/2013
Nicely done. A few bloopers (Grant's quip is "hot off the press" not "how to impress") but pretty good. If you make further changes, note Copperfield's headstone in the series reads "HUSBAND AND FATHER" You'd need to explain how such a suspicious man could trust a woman enough to marry her! I hope you can get over your writer's block enough to finish "Shell Game" now. Poor Nicholas has been trapped with that unknown captor (though I've my suspicions) for a few years!
Chrysalis441 chapter 12 . 10/26/2009
I've actually read the story quite a while ago and really liked it. I love the series and would love to have more stories. Very good integration of the flashbacks and a very good characterization of the team (I love your Nicholas:-) )
Funky In Fishnet chapter 12 . 6/21/2009
This is a really fun novelisation of 'The Killer.' I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, thanks so much for filling in the gaps and giving the show even more life :)
zoloko chapter 12 . 4/16/2009
This was such fun also. Nice to read something complete. I liked all the little additions of the team's interactions. You should do more. In any case, you should keep writing.
sodakey chapter 12 . 1/2/2007
Can I just say that I really really really like this. Eloquent of me, I know. I wish there was just...more fiction like this out there. Not just fan fic but fiction. Well done. You should write TV adapted novels. I'd trust them to be in character and creative. You made the characters in this stand out so much more than I expected them too, yet you didn't change them or change the plot. Subtle but powerful. Go. Write professionally. Skill like this shouldn't be just spent in hobby.
team player chapter 4 . 6/27/2006
keep writing fan fiction . you write them like you know who they are .it like they are real people to you . i love the show forward to reading more
PernDragonrider chapter 11 . 5/14/2006
I really enjoyed reading your adaptation of the 1988 pilot to the reincarnated Mission: Impossible Series.

Your characterizations are dead on, from what I can remember seeing. The "help from my friends" started in the orginial series after the first season. There were many time I can remember Martin Landau, Barbara Bain, Leonard Nimoy and the others using those same words. It is a tie in that somehow the writers for the 1988 programming actually got right!

Thank you again for allowing me to relive that wonderful time of international intrigue and espionage that belongs exclusively to the Impossible Missions Force. I would hope that an original story might be in the works, your writer's block allowing; however this one was definately worth reading and I've added to my favorite stories list.

I hope that what started out as an exercise to rid you of your block had paid off, not only in this excellently written piece, but in allowing you to move past your block and back to writing again.

Thank you so much for an exceptional and accurate fan-fic. Rewriting a pilot episode of an, at the time, obscure television program was great and I could see the characters as the episode played in my mind's eye. Your additions were thoughtful and totally in character for each one. Grant's musing about his father's disappearance; which never happened in the series, are what lead to the second episode where they're sent to extricate him from his captors.

This might be an obscure fandom to most; however I am a dedicated MI fan and have been since I was introduced to the original series.

Long Live the IMF as well as Jim Phelps, Cinnamon, Barney, Willy, and all the other memorable (sorry lousy speller sometimes) characters that were created by Irwin Allen. (I'm probably mistaken but I believe he was the creator of the orginal series.)
PernDragonrider chapter 1 . 5/14/2006
I'm sending this review before I even read the fully story. I had to do it just to THANK YOU! At least now I know I'm not the only one that has a HUGE problem with the MI movies; especially the first one.

Jim Phelps would never turn against his own team, IHMO. I don't care what the PTB's (Powers That Be) did to him; there is no way in HELL that he'd ever intentionally hurt or kill someone from his own team of operatives.

After thinking about your comment in regards to the movie Sneaker, you're right and that one should have been named MI. As a huge fan of the original MI (especially since I was a huge Star Trek fan and Leonard Nimoy went to the that show after ST, well I enjoyed the show before he came. It became a weekly ritual for my dad and myself to sit down and eagerly await the newest episode of MI.

I have my love of spy shows, action adventure, and sci-fi from my dad. It's the one legacy that I don't think I'll ever tire of; however some of the stuff coming out of television, cable, and movies compares to what we used to call the old B-grade saturday afternoon sci-fi/horror programs that were available on all channels every weekend. (NBC, ABC, CBS, and the UHF Channels as well.)

I can't wait to read this story because I was intrigued that they'd actually attempt to remake MI as well as drawn by having Barney Collier's son as their electronics expert. Bit of trivia the actor that played Barney's son in the remake is the real son of the actor that portrayed Barney in the first series. I enjoyed the series and was extremely disappointed when it was cancelled and replaced. They did redo most of the old plot lines; however most of the solutions were somewhat different as well as watching new actors portray some familiar roles.

I truly regret that they didn't have Barney make an appearance in that series or the movies. Jon Voight did not make a believable Jim Phelps for me at all.

Thanks again for writing a fan fic on a favorite show of my youth. I get teased for my liking of MI by everyone I know and my only reply is that you should watch the original and not believe anything you see from the movies by that name. The movies do not portray MI as it should be. Teamwork and joint team effort is what kept them successful; not the grandstanding of one individual (aka Tom Cruise's character).

Sorry, rambled somewhat, but the sentiments are true. Thanks again for voicing them and letting me know that I'm not alone in my disgust over what was done to that wonderful weekly spy series by Hollywood writers that probably never even saw a single episode or outtake for that matter.

Oh and the other spy show of that era that I also remember fondly was I Spy with Robert Culp and Bill Cosby. It used some of the same precepts that MI did and also added a great dose of Cosby humor to the mix. It was another of those HAVE to SEE weekly series' during my childhood.
knuffelinchen chapter 5 . 3/16/2006
Hello!

I really, really like your story.

I'm glad someone decided to write about the show.

Thanks a lot!
KaeKaeD chapter 12 . 2/12/2006
I really enjoyed this fic. I bought back memories of watching the show growing up, and more than that, it let me get behind the scenes, so to speak, and see the people and emotions. Like an novelization, but actually I have read several novelizations that did fit the bill as well as this one.
fall-leaf chapter 12 . 10/27/2005
Wonderful and Fun! I really hope you do another one. I'd love to see more episodes written out this way.
AJL chapter 12 . 8/10/2005
I really enjoyed this story. You really captured the essence of the series by illustrating that only those who work as a team will succeed and that those who try to go it alone (Copperfield, Drake) will fail. Expanding on an already existing storyline was a good idea because it's just hard to create a good entirely new story with a series like this. I hope to see more MI fanfic posted in the future!
Tim chapter 12 . 7/12/2005
Nice work. Great consistancy with topic threads and subtle themes through the story (specifically Tom's preocupation with irony). It would be nice to see other such adaptations. Thank you for sharing this.
VikingLine chapter 12 . 2/16/2005
MORE! Please. Please Please.

Now the coherent part of my review. ;)

It's amazing. Better than any fanfiction I've ever read. Quite pace to pace with the 1st episode, as far as I can recall.. 15 years since I've last seen it. First and last, really. For some reason the Finnish Television never agreed to show the IMF series again.

Does this mean you'll have other stuff coming? IMF? With Max (yeah yeah.. he's my kinda guy there ;) )

You have a very fluent way of words and tho you do describe everything in detail, you still leave the reader the chance to fill in something... That's a gift only few writers have.

Thank you for this wonderful experience. I truly wanted to write review after each chapter but I just couldn't stop reading for even a moment.
