It tends to melt away for situations like this (even if he doesn't always understand what is going on, he displays an interesting insight into other people hurting). I like the parallel you drew between his childhood and the sort of stepping in to be for someone else what Sandaime was for him.

oo great story. You can keep it as a oneshot or you can continue because you left it at a very good place, its not a clifhanger and yet also leaves some plot to be possibly developed. If you have time i would like to see more to this story, and if not it is good as-is

I liked how Hinata was also crying in the rain, as Naruto usually did when he was younger. It showed how alike they were, even if on the outside they seem so different.

And that was so sad...that Hinata's clan would actually want to disown her...but the really sad thing about thing is that it actually seems plausible in the series. Wah. Poor Hinata. ;_; Good thing there's Naruto for her, ne? _ And I'm really glad that he's not as, er, dense now, since he's older...at least he finally realized that he has feelings for her! *glomps Naruto*

"You can tell me about the guy you like...so I can kick his ass!" was my favorite line. _ It's too bad that Naruto never voiced that final thought out loud. And Hinata never told him. I wonder when they will ever finally tell each other...?

Very cute scene, with a correct portrayal of the characters. There were a couple details that didn't fully fit, but they're barely noticeable. BTW, if this is a one-shot, the ending looks a bit loose, IMO.
